1. Do you believe having a Vpi SDS is a worthy upgrade?

2. Moving to Japan, 50hz cycle. Will SDS provide me the control to run at 50hz without needing to change spindle?

Welcome your expert opinions, thank you.

take a close look at the phoenix. http://www.phoenix-engr.com/#!/

I owned the SDS with my VPI TNT, its child's play by comparison. when you use the roadrunner together with the falcon or eagle PSU its a closed loop system, both devices talk to each other and adjusts the speed continuously - far more accurately than the SDS.

If your classic has the 5 watt motor you can get away with the falcon psu, the eagle was just released for higher wattage motors. you'll need to remove your hurst motor, the label on the bottom shows the specs. I have a NIB 5W VPI motor with the new style pulley available PM if interested.

It all depends on what part of Japan you will be living... Tokyo area is 50hz but Osaka area is 60hz... People stand on right side while on an escalator in Tokyo and Osaka people stand on left side...
