Hmm...not a ton of B.A.T. guys, here at AShark huh; or they're the more listening/less posting types ;)

I'm in the middle, of yes...another system flip (but honest...I really am, trying to slow things down. Frankly...it's getting a little tiresome); and I could use some feedback about these amps.

I tried one...wayyy back; early, in my budding audiophile-dom. An old-gen, VK-200. It was fine; at the time, I was still burning through gear...and changing too much, to really get a sense of good matching.

Time passed...and so did a lot of kit, through my Listening Room  But I recently picked up a VK-250SE...to just sort of "tide me over". The thought was...Backert Rhumba 1.1, here I come! And then figure out, what worked with that...and my Twenty5 23s.

But...I'm really liking, the way the 250SE/25-23 combo is sounding :audiophile: And that...is with it being driven by my Mytek Brooklyn, directly; because I've had the LS-26 on the sidelines...anticipating a sale, to precipitate the Rhumba. But I'm going to put the 26, back in the loop today; and see how it responds to a tubed pre-amp.

Questions are this:

Is the 255SE, "worth" the upgrade?

What do you think might make, for the better pairing (if I don't have the chance to A/B, and have to take a leap of faith...on the Backert); the linear, 6H30-tubed ARC...or the 12au7-based Backert?

Why do I see, such a variety of capacitors...in the BATs I look up?? I know about the BAT-PAKs; but even then...I see some/most, with Nichicon...while my unit has Jensens?

The Jensen caps are paper in oil and help lend to the BAT sound. I recently recapped my BAT VK-51se preamp's super pak with new Jensens. Can't help with the 255se though, never heard one.
