Vivid G3 review - ties Alexia for Retirement speaker

Thanks for the link Jock.

I guess the design is you love it or hate it . Me ? I love it. He is the same designer from B&W's Nautilus if my memory serves me correct.

While I'm going to avoid comparisons with Alexias, I have spent some considerable time with Vivid G1s. Despite the silly looks, the sound is very serious. One thing for everybody to remember is pricing for Wilson, Vivid, Focal varies quite a bit around the world. As one would expect, here in the US, Wilson have a price advantage. But in other markets, an Alexia would be competing with a G1 and a Stella Utopia on a cost basis. To each his own....

I'm sure you could do some really interesting/fun decorative things around those speakers in a dedicated room. I've also heard they sound great.

Mark:

When was the last time we've seen a bad review? I suppose an argument can be made that there is a ton of good gear out there but I'd like a bit less cheerleading.

For example, I've read several sources state the new Porsche 991 GT3 (while an engineering feat) fails to engage one's spirit as much as the prior 997 iteration (some would argue back to the 993). Wouldn't it be refreshing to read a pro audio review that concludes something similar about the newest and greatest amp?

The Vivid speakers are definitely gaining traction. Just look at the reviews!

Correct Mike...sad state of affairs. And I continue to subscribe to both Steroephile and Absolute Sound!! I'm insane!

Anyways yes my comments are in no way directed at the Vivids.

Slightly off topic, this is interesting, if not just for the unique design but looks - which I DON'T find appealing. Hey you Vivid haters, do you like this any better?

I have had these G2's for just under two years and I wouldn't trade them for but a few other speakers. I am lucky to have had a dedicated music room for the past five years so cosmetics has never even been a consideration when selecting components. That being said, I don't think I could live with them in my family room.
