Similar in power delivery (50w vs 40w class A) both share the newer architecture with intelligent class A & music modes, and are similarly priced. If sound quality is the primary objective which would you choose?

I've heard both back to back and the SS-103 walks it. The SM-011's sound veiled and slow by comparison (and I loved the SM-011's on a home demo). Personally I don't know why anyone would pick the monos over the stereo, although I know some v knowledgable people have it the other way around.

just to prove how we all hear things differently. I owned the SM 011 for a couple of years and eventually moved them on as i found them too analytical and somewhat forward in my system. Certainly the opposite of veiled and slow in my system. I did everything i could to slow them down!!.

however their bass control and authority was simply awesome. I remember when i put them into my system (coming from a Vitus SIA 025) it was like i had added a subwoofer to the system.

Personally i'm waiting on the SIA-030 integrated due around the end of the year which will be based on the SS-103 & SL-103 ;).

i think in retrospect the SIA 025 was a real sweety in my system - and there was probably no need to change. Highlights that moving up the line even within the same brand doesn't mean your going to get more of the same.

I agree the SIA-025 is the warmest, most tube-like amp in VA's lineup (aside from the old SS-102). More so than the SM-011 mono's which are more neutral. The SIA-030 may just be a very good thing and woo you away from those sexy 300B amps...:skeptical:.

Melbguy1, I'm with you.I wonder if the DAC option will be available when it's released. It would be nice to get some pricing info...
I would say most likely yes as VA has enough manufacturing capacity to work on the dac module side by side the amp. No pricing yet. The dac module will be good.

elrog 845's - awesomeness
...or maybe not! The SIA-025 is reminiscent of a good 300b amp in class A mode because of its warmth & the way the midrange is rich and nicely rounded, but of course it will never replace one. Then again, a 300b integrated or stereo amp will never replace what the Vitus does so well .

Hi David,

Make sure you do an in-home demo of the SIA-030 before you upgrade from the SIA-025. You wouldn't want to lose any of that warmth the SIA-025 is famous for.

Best,
Ken

Hi Ken,

I may not be able to swing a home demo as I have a suspicion there will be a waiting list for the new model, and I would need to sell my current amp to part-fund the new one. With that said, the feedback on the SS-103 and SM-103 mono's + SL-103 has been very positive, so that's a good sign. Also the S5 Mk2's are fairly power hungry, so I think the extra power/control and improved circuit design should more than compensate for any slight loss of warmth.

Hi david,
I own sabrina from w.a feeded by devialet200.
I m seriously thinking of an end game amp, and vitus is on top of my amps.
Would the sia 25 be the pretender for the task?
The ri100 or ri101( the newest one) with built in dac is more in my budget, and i m wondering if he can excel in handling the sabs?
Any thoughts?
Thks

I found this from the Stereophile review of the Sabrina:-

My estimate of the Sabrina's voltage sensitivity on the tweeter axis was 88.2dB/2.83V/m, slightly higher than the specified 87dB. Wilson specifies the Sabrina's electrical impedance as 4 ohms, with a minimum magnitude of 2.53 ohms at 139Hz. My measurement of the impedance is shown in fig.1: the value (solid trace) varies between 4 and 6 ohms between 250Hz and 4kHz, and the minimum magnitude is 2.44 ohms at 135Hz. However, there is also a combination of 4.44 ohms and a capacitive phase angle of –58° at 72Hz, a frequency where music can have considerable energy; this will place a significant demand for current on the partnering amplifier.

This impediance drop out at 139Hz can present problems for the partnering amplifier.

Thks, i ve read it many times.
I know that sabs require only 50watts amplification, but experience showed that higher wattage is much better!
Ri100 will definitely do the job, but i was wondering what the sia25 with 30 watt class A will be able to do.
