Hello,

First post here. I'm considering purchase of RI-100 and am seeking comfort that if service is required in the US, it is available and that turn-around-time has been reasonable and results satisfactory.

Thanks for any experience.

Good to be here. Eager to learn more about this brand. The RI-100 seems to fit my needs, but it's not as well discussed in forums as are many other integrateds, nor is it as readily available for demo.

This does seem to be one of the most robust venues for discussion of all thing Vitus.

Not sure if Mike has one to demo in Florida? We have a RI-100 connected to Magico S1II's....always available for demo.

Yes, John and I have been chatting. He just wants to hear if anyone has had any problems with a Vitus piece and how the repairs went. I couldn't think of any since they are built like tanks, so I advised him to ask on the forum. Maybe someone has experience.

I was just responding to the part about not being able to demo a RI100. We always have a RI100 on hand for demo. Was not sure if you had one in Florida for demo. Even if he buys off of you Mike, if he wants to hear it if in NYC he's welcome to come in for a listen.

Thanks Bob. Appreciate that. And ditto here for SS103/SL102mk2.

Thank you for the kind offer. The few times I can find reviews of Vitus gear, it always seems to be mated to Magico's. What's the source/basis of this pairing?
All this Vitus love is nice to see, who lifts, when he buys .... :)

I'm also considering the Pass INT-250, but my medical plan only covers hernia repair from lifting audio components up to 90#, so I may have to rule it out.

Probably many opinions on the Magico/Vitus synergy, my opinion is that Magico until recently was a bit hard to tame with SS, maybe a little "too much resolution" without enough warmth. Then comes Vitus - Resolution but naturalness and a click of warmth. Also Magico is capable of world class bass and Vitus delivers it in spades.

Although now with the latest S series, following the MPro tech advancements and the trickle down to all of the latest S series (S1II, S5II and S7) you could get by with a lot of other great SS amps that are out there, but Vitus has just right blend of driver control for world class bass, high resolution, musicality, warmth (not too warm) and naturalness.

Again others could have totally different opinions on the subject, this is just my opinion.

Vitus works pretty much with any speaker not just Magico, but works very well specifically with Magico.

Thanks for this thorough explanation. I'm trying to optimize my 803's, but now thinking that they and the Ayre integrated should just be relegated to the dining room, and Vitus and Magico should be the main system. Too many options, too few rooms.

I was wondering if there was some sort of strategic relationship between Vitus and Magico. I didn't think they shared ownership vis a vis Classe and B&W. And now I'm reading that Vitus 'partnered' with Gauder while Solution partnered with Magico at Munich (and just how does that work -- is it like asking a date to prom? 'oh, gee, really wish you had asked sooner, but I've agreed to go with....").

I guess I'll go stepwise and start with the Vitus. I read nothing but wonderment about the S3's (the Magico I barely hope to afford). Maybe by the time I've saved up enough coin, they'll have come out with whatever the Mark II version of that will be.....

Personally, I would save up for the SIA-025 or look for one used. It is much better than the RI-100 - more so than the price difference may suggest. Don't get me wrong - the RI-100 is OK, but the SIA-025 is world class.

As an alternative, you may look for an used MSB amp. It is another outstanding combination with Magico. You can go with MSB 202 or 203 monos, or S200/S201 stereo amp. They can be had for cheap used (M202 monos should be available for $7-8k, S200 stereo for much less). Sonic wise, the MSB 202 monos are close to the $50k Vitus SM-011 monos and probably better than the SIA-025. Vitus SM-011 is a little bit faster and transparent.

Get yourself a DAC with variable output, like the Lampizator Big 7 for example, and you will have a world class system to drive the Magicos for pennies.

oiy. 'system', 'Magicos' and 'pennies' in the same sentence? What currency are you working in?

Seriously, though, I do appreciate the thoughts. I may just need a second house to provide the rooms for all the optional combinations.

Well, considering used MSB S200 stereo power amp can be found used for $4k, that is cheap by hi-end standards.

There is not a strategic relationship between Magico and Vitus.
