It's still far easier to use than computer audio and it's failure rate is 1/100 of digital audio. Probably 3/4 of exhibitors at Axpona had their digital go down; don't know any analog setups facing the same issue. :(

CD players are more reliable than music servers and streamers, but you still have to worry about disc errors. Besides, it seems lots of people who love them some digits don't want to actually own any physical media. As far as the cartoon, anyone who hates analog will like it as it forms a small part of their argument against analog.
 
LOL! That is funny. What's strange is I like the whole vinyl ritual from cleaning and care to play.

Really? People are drawn to vinyl because of the expense and inconvenience? Or is it just true that vinyl is more inconvenient than digital? And even then one needs to clarify whether you are old school digital listening to CDs or putting up with the hassle of setting up the server software and your D/A software and hoping that you can get the two of them to shake hands and subsequently not lose that handshake. I can't tell you how many rooms I was in at Axpona this year where there were digital glitches during demos. The usual answer to digital problems is to reboot the system.

I know the cartoon was supposed to be a joke, but when you have stratospheric priced transports and D/A converters that can set you back multiples of 6 figures playing back digital files that can cost more than the average audiophile LP reissues, who are we really kidding here?

Hi Mep.

My response was inline with the comedy of the post. I am a fan and embrace both platforms: Analog and Digital and both have their +/-. I love it all and to be honest, am addicted to the effort I put into the hobby as a whole. What is more, I've only been in the upper end of HIFi for just barely a year. I'm a baby. No complaints.

Again, my response was jovial/playful. I'm sorry my response offered. Forgive :)

I'm aware that you have an analog setup. I was just trying to put things back into perspective. It's all good brother. :D
 
I can think of no better evidence of the sonic superiority of vinyl over digital than the fact that it continues to not only exist but flourish in spite of it's inconvenient nature and high expense. I just spent a great deal of time and energy evaluating the front end of my new system with SQ as my primary focus and at the moment it's all headed toward analog.
