My wife and I were in NYC this week visiting my daughter. She lives in Brooklyn and is getting her Master of Architecture at Pratt University. For food money, she works at the jazz club, Village Vanguard in Greenwich Village. She encouraged us to see a show with her while we were in town. Since I have seen Chris Potter before and knew it would be a safe bet, we decided to see the Chris Potter Circuits Trio.

The performance was absolutely incredible. Chris was accompanied by James Francies and Eric Harland. Watching and listening to James Francies play the piano and the keyboard bass at the same time was something I won’t soon forget. The music had tremendous energy and the skill of the musicians was remarkable.

As audiophiles, a show like this is really necessary to reset the baseline as to what live music in an intimate setting really sounds like. As great as many of our systems sound, I haven’t heard any that can reproduce what I heard that night. If you have a chance to see a show at the Village Vanguard, I highly recommend it. A truly memorable experience.

Congrats Morgan, A friend's son just graduated from Pratt's 5 year Architecture program. One of the best in the country. An excellent choice.. I lived in NYC for 22 years. Your daughter works in a landmark venue in one of the city's most beautiful neighborhoods...
