Right channel dropped out yesterday, upon diagnoses a 6H30P failure in the right channel.

For years my go-to tube guy was Jim McShane out of Chgo, now retired. So for those using 'glass bottles' what's your fav source ?
I'm familiar with Tube Depot and The Tube Store

I've used them both plus Viva Tubes. All reliable so just pick the best price and fastest delivery. As the Tube Store is in Canada tariff's may come into play.

Just curious if you can buy replacements from ARC and if they are competitive on pricing?

When I owned CJ I got my replacement tubes from them. I had a Van Alstine tube preamp a friend sent me a selection of tubes to roll, one of the most expensive was from Upscale, my impression was that would be my last resort to purchase from.

I'm pretty sure I can(haven't checked pricing) and yes when comparing prices on Upscale, they are pricier.

There are only two choices and both made in the same factory. The choice comes down to with or without gold pins. Viva looks to be the cheapest and the closest to you in Ma.

Thanks Jack, I see they sell matched 'quads', probably go that route........

Unless you require unobtainable, obscure, NOS tubes, start with the amp maker for recommendations. Tube sound, and duration of service, are determined by the manufacturer.

I have a stash of 6DJ8 (& equivalent) matched pairs (work in my pre-amp, and tubed Phono amp) and a few rectifier sets, accumulated over the years. I bought them from many vendors. For expensive tubes, it’s worth buying from an experienced vendor, who will stand behind the tubes.
