Troubleshooting a Subwoofer

Picked up an M&K MX-125 Sub with other things thinking it worked. I have not tried the speaker inputs but when I use the RCA inputs in any way, single Mono, single to Y connector to both inputs of the sub, or actual stereo outputs to both something is not right.

As soon as I give it the slightest amount of volume, it sounds like the room is going to blow up and you have to back it right down to zero.

As far as the manual goes, the connections should be correct but this is not working right.

Any ideas?

I have had several older Velodyne's which were good way back. I have repurposed the enclosures. Removed the old and put in a new Dayton subwoofer and plate amp. Parts Express sell a 280 watt plate with boost at 35 hz. Makes a decent home theater sub. Sorry yours didn't work out.

This sub has 2 12" woofers so the Plate Amp and Wiring would be different than just dropping in a Dayton Plate. Out of business since 2007 and I don't feel like parting it out for the drivers. I have a Mirage Sub in my HT so not too worried. I see they were decent Subs in their day but also I see issues with the amp going.

I tested it without hooking it to anything and the internal generated sound is not as crazy as when hooked up, but still there. The cabinet saw better days too.

I got a real decent pair of Paradigm 3se MK3s in the more rare Light Oak in the same deal. They sound pretty good with my Lux aside from some uncontrolled bass.
