Triton v2 - First impressions

Yesterday, I finally got around to adding the two amps to the ground bus on the Triton. Since each amp is on its own circuit, and the source gear and Triton is on another circuit, I was a little apprehensive about creating a ground loop. However, with no input, and the volume near max, it is dead quiet.

I listened to the complete grounded stereo for hours last night, and it's playing now. There is no negative effect in my system by having everything grounded to the Triton, even though the Triton is on one circuit, and each amp is on its own circuit. While I have no measurements, I get the impression it plays a tad louder so I am using a few db lower volume settings. There certainly seems to be a clearer, sharper, detailed sound now. Or more accurately, those existing traits are a bit more enhanced now. This is a pretty good tweak which only cost the price of spades, and cutting up some old 10 gauge speaker wire.

Congrats Bud! The Triton and Typhon seem to bring very beneficial results. Do you think it seems louder because the noise floor is lower?

Mike, that might be it. I don't have any way to measure this stuff, other than use my ears. I guess if I were really curious, or it was my job, I could remove/add the grounds and try to A/B it. However, the rack and gear weigh 800 pounds so that means I have to do it by reaching around and blindly attaching the cables, and that is a pain. I think I will just listen and enjoy it. :)

I am glad I haven't had ground loop issues. I have read too many horror stories on forums about that.

Just placed an order with the Cable Company to upgrade my HT/Surround system Triton v1 to a v2. Plus the v2 will be black, which is the perfect color for HT gear.

What will your total investment in Shunyata gear be after this upgrade?

Bud - you've done a great job methodically building out a wonderful system and now your HT setup. Congrats!
