Correction on the tube. The Triode 845's use a 12AU7.

What did Andy recommend? Wish I had known it was 12AU7's I've got a lot of those. My favorite AU7 is the Raytheon Black Plate 5814 second is the RCA Command Series.

A very nice 12au7 type tube is a 7316. Mfg by Amperex. Many are labeled "Beckman" and have seen a few labeled "Computer tube". Very clean, focused with a good soundstage. They are a premium version of the "AU" family. They don't have the overly large euphoric presentation like many of the 12au7's. Used in early computers for their speed and linearity.

Yes it would! I think they would be fine. They are ballsy. Once I get my S1 mk2's back, I'll give it a try.
