Trenner & Friedl ART

Trenner & Friedl ART

No, I don´t need a better car but I do want one :)

You took that comment exactly as it was meant, an attempt at humor.

Just to provide another example, I´d never heard your Harbeth P3ESR so I went out to my dealer U Tube Audio at WWW and auditioned them in several rooms, in this one they sound wonderful, I understand why you have them in such high regard and at €1500 less than the Art´s they´re an extremely high value proposition.

I think the 3PSRs are good, but there still might be better ones. That's why I tested the ARTs. Interestingly enough, I also tested the next bigger Harbeths and they were not at all to my liking, sounded muddled compared to the ARTs.

There probably is better than the Harbeth´s but at what price? Would it be a clear step forward or just a side step? When monitors get into good floorstander territory price wise I find it less easy to justify the cost. Speaking of which I´m excited to hear what Andrew Jones and Elac come out with in their "cost no object" Adante line of speakers, Mr. Jones is a price to performance wizard so they should be really good.

I think the point here is not whether the ART is great or not, it's rather that I am maybe looking for a LS in another league.

One currently intriguing me is the Gauder Akustik Berlina RC3.

Just wanted to chime in as I myself have recently acquired the Trenner + Friedl Arts for a few months now. They are incredibly detailed but not analytical in anyway, there's a wonderful coherence and smoothness that I love about them. Very natural sounding and non-fatiguing. They go incredibly low for their size, but of course won't move as much air as larger speakers. I think these perform at the top among the small monitors, so perhaps you are looking for qualities that only bigger woofers can provide.

Its funny, the last speakers I had were the Reference de capo be's as well! They were great too - so dynamic and had awesome depth and a romantic midrange. Too bad they're not the most attractive speaker, and they're a bit colored.

Kuoppis

Since you are in Europe where they are more widely distributed, see if you can get a listen to the Reynaud Bliss Silver.

I agree, this is exactly what I have concluded. There is only so much air the small woofer can move.

Got me there, how could I not agree - I have two Silvers to make my TV watching more pleasant.
