How does the 845-Z sound? According to factory’s description – “it has a full body rich sound, deep bass, transparent but not clinical. It is a super version 845 – like 300B on steroid!”.

I would like to broaden this question. In general, as best anyone can, explain the characteristics and nuances of 845s vs KT88s and 6550s. I only know of one SET KT88 amp by Audion. I have a pair of McIintosh MC60s that seem to be getting a bit long in the tooth and am looking for some PSETs, most likely 845s. My concern is whether the 845 tube can deliver the bass but am also interested in other parameters.

i know it doesnt help but i just rolled these 211's into the Triode. They are a bit shouty at the moment as they are new, but the space and depth they are throwing off is something awesome

Nice. Give them time to break in. I have a few sets of the GE VT4C 211 tubes, I see that they are the same but my boxes are different. I have not put mine in yet.
