Traveling Digital Cable Demo

UPDATE:

George is going to try and get the cables shipped back to me by this coming weekend or so. That means I should be able to ship them out to Julien (Julot) toward the end of next week.

Thanks guys for keeping this demo rolling smoothly!....its much appreciated.

UPDATE:

I've received the cables back from George today (thanks George!).

They will be shipping to Julien (Julot) in Paris, France toward the end of this week if all goes as planned on my end.

Julien, I'll keep in touch regarding ship date and tracking info.

Thanks again guys for helping to keep this demo running smoothly.

Mike

UPDATE:

The demo cables will be shipping to Julien in Paris, France on Monday the 11th of May. They should arrive within 7 days if not sooner.

Since we're nearing the end of the demo (one more user, Loop4fun after Julien) are there any other Audioshark members that would like to sign up for the demo and keep it going?

Thanks.

UPDATE and LAST CALL....

The original list of demo users has been:

ORDER SO FAR:
1. (Jerry) JDLAudio
2. (Mike) Mike
3. (Darrin) Dpod4
4. (George) octadyndude
5. (Julien) Julot
6. (Bill) Loop4fun (change of plans with Bill's gear, demo not needed)

Currently the cables are in France with Julien and may be available for further demo use come mid July time frame (approximate time frame at this point).

This is last call for anyone else wanting to sign up to take a listen mid July or thereabouts.

So.....anyone else game before the door closes?

My demo took longer than expected for many reasons, including custom delays. But mostly, I kept them because I felt they kept improving over the several weeks period I had them.

It's very perplexing to judge digital cables. Those didn't work for me and in my systems, where I lacked some very subtle messages and harmonics (I mostly listen to classical music and focus on the whole harmonic picture). That said, I cannot name a better cable at the same price, and I particularly appreciated
- an impeccable tonal balance
- a great easiness in the flow of the music
- great stereo imaging
- those are some good looking cables, better in real life than in pictures, with an excellent finish
(My reference points were the AES/EBU Audioquest Carbon (50% more expensive) and the Antipodes Komaki (800% or so?). Why such difference between digital cables remain a mystery to me and I suspect it has to be very system dependent.

However Mike threw in some speaker cables for good measure (two pairs were needed to drive the ICOS 2) and those were THE BOMB. I'm actually buying them not because I want to (that wasn't in my plans) but because I can't bring myself to take them off. So yes, details are there, rapidity, perfect phase and stereo imaging accordingly, tonal balance, no distortion that I could hear. But mostly the music was very present and alive. At 400$ a pair, it's almost a steal. I know better speaker cables, but they are five or six time the price.

And did I mention they're good-looking?

Hi Julien,

Thanks for the kind words on the cables even if the Digital cables were not an ideal match for your gear / setup. However, glad the Speaker cables I sent along are performing well for you.

I'm back from my camping trip today so will check the Post Office to see if the returned cables have been delivered. Please shoot me the tracking number info via PM or email when you get a moment so I may watch their progress if they aren't already waiting for me to pick up.

Thanks.
