It sound like Bryston is buying licensed parts such as the transformer core, NBT and series mode surge suppressor from Torus, then assembling the parts.
I have looked at my Torus RM20 and feel some improvements can be had. The 2 most obvious are replacing the Hubbell 5362 duplex with a Furutech or other all copper type duplex. I have heard enough duplex to know they have a sonic signature.
The second less impactful, but audible may be more a pigtail to each duplex instead of the series in, out, in, out as is the current design. I feel connection points degrade sound. The best power supply I ever built was a Oyaide cord that came from my panel, out the wall, into a box where the cord to each device was clamped to the Oyaide. A Hydra head of sorts. No duplex. The only pressure connection was the IEC at the amp.
This is not legal per NEC as all branch wires are to terminate into a duplex. And all cords are to have a male and female end. But boy does it perform well and cost relatively nothing to make.
