Top Seven Blu-ray Players of 2013

No sweat, the 103 (I have) is an excellent choice.

And for the analog people (XLR balanced connections), the 105 is it. ...Plus the 105 is also a Preamp and a DAC and a Headphone Amp/Preamp.

And for people with a lower budget, the Sony 790 is the third best ($200, or less; street).

* These three BD players above all have a dual-core video processor (load discs real fast).
They also have (the three of them) dual HDMI outputs (compatible with almost everything out there).
And they are all 3D (of course) and they all play SACDs.

I have had the Oppo 83se, 93 and 95. I only upgraded for the audio. The video looked great on all of them. The 95 does a great job on audio, when I watch a concert, and whenever I want to watch a 3d movie. Oppo does a good job of pushing out updates to their software even with my older unit. I don't plan on updating at this time but if I did it would be to a 105.

I have two Oppo 95 and a Se83. They just do so many things right. I am going to consider changing my 83 to 95

I'll be getting the Sony S5100. My S360 has served me well, but it's time to upgrade. I'm sticking with Sony because my tv has the Bravia sync which automatically syncs the tv with the player.

That'll be only fifty bucks sir (Black Friday), Bob. ...Or roughly hundred times less than a decent pair of interconnects.

P.S. Bob, just for you: The Best Blu-ray Player | The Wirecutter

And the 105 also comes in Silver color for people who prefer to match all their components.

And! You can get it for $999 (refurb) directly from Oppo (just like brand new with still a 2-year warranty).
Plus it has the particular advantage of been checked to make sure that it is indeed in perfect working condition/performance (they don't do that with brand new units coming directly from the manufacturer, by boats and submarines in the Red Sea). ;)

And! It can also be modified (tube ModWright) for further sound improvement into the sixth dimension. :)
{Just like the Sony SCD-XA5400ES player can also be; but the Sony won't play no Blu-rays, and no DVD-Audio/Videos.
...Multichannel audio? I don't think so, no.}

I'm surprised Denon's DVD-A1UD didn't make it. :disbelief: I suppose only the new products in 2013 were considered??

Denon has been pretty much dead since the Blu-ray player's inception, 2006. I don't ever remember seeing one of their BD players being competitive with the others, and they were all extremely slow to read the discs. ...Plus other anomalies, and they were also overpriced, and not the best performers, and using older video solutions. And I always kept up with Blu-ray everything related right from the very start.

And yes, only for 2013, that list (see main title above). But even in the past, right from 2006 and all the years thereafter Denon were not making any list. Besides their first player came much later on, I think two or even three years after 2006.

I talked with Oppo guys at the Taves show. They as well as others have said that Sept. seems to be the roll out of 4K native. Oppo suggested there might be a 4K native player out then. JVC projectors said the same 4K native projector in Sept.

What does it matter there’s no 4K source.

I absolutely loved my Oppo BDP-103, but am " In Love " with the BDP-105D even more so........, and lest not overlook the Panasonic DMP-BDT500P Integrated Wi-Fi 3D Blu-ray DVD Player which to my ears/eyes gave the earlier Oppo Players a run from their money, and one that I personally believe is more deserving of anyone whom cares about visual and sound quality from today's players, as many of them are made of plastic, and are to my mind merely toys.

Seasons Greetings Guys........, and Bob, thanks for sharing the article.

Hi, thank you for this information..but it's too late : I have bought this bluray player ...Denon DVD-A1UD....
