To simply or to not simplify?

I received my air tight ate-2001 yesterday . Will hook it up tonight.

Even with tubes that need to be replaced (some tube rush), this is the most musical preamp I have had in my system. Even better (more at ease and less smearing on low notes, zero harshness or sibilance) than my ATC-2. And that is just first listen thru constellation amp.

just curious, i have a buddy who swares the airtight cartridge is nearly unbeatable, ive never heard one. and a dealer friend who lives far away tells me the same thing. do you have any experience with it since you like all their stuff and obviously have a dealer near by?
 
I haven't heard the airtight but I know my spiral groove can take another arm [emoji51]
 
I decided to simplify and fund my daughter's college fund since she is now a senior in High School.

Selling ARC REF 40 preamp - listed on Audiogon for $15k (retail $25k), the ARC REF 2SE phono preamp (retail $14k) and the Herron VTPH-2 with extra tubes and loading plugs for $2,500).

I am going to list it for 7k. 7600 with the Russian super tubes I put in it ($1,500 worth of tubes).
