I had the privilege to see one of the world's best Pianist along with the Kazakh String Quartet celebrating 30 at a local church last week.
Timur won Best Pianist in Vienna this year as well as winning many other competitions year after year. He started the concert solo and performed Beethoven's 32 Variations to a T with no sheet music. The Quartet then joined him for another hour of pure excellence. We were sitting about 20 feet away. Turns out that Timur was married in this church a few years ago so decided to perform here as well as another local church. The five of them also just performed at Carnegie Hall 2 weeks ago. I am not a big Classical fan but seeing this performance has helped me to appreciate the genre much more.
