Time for a new TT :)

I agree.

I think the affordable VPI TTs like the Scout and the Classic are decent/good for the money. But just like CA they cannot IMHO compete with Feickert, Reed etc.
Yes I agree. A feikert with a reed arm would be serious cash though. But I was talking more the prime sig. Which I think is the sweet spot in the line. Anything above that doesn't sound much different. I have no love for the classic with internal motor. Which I owned one. Something vpi was always against. But sold a lot so they liked it .lol

A 12" Jelco arm also works wonders.

But I cannot look in your wallet. I have no idea what a VPI Prime costs

The Feickert tables are very pleasing to my eye. I thought the Woodpecker sounded good when I heard it... once with Ortofon arm, the other with Kuzma arm. I have not read this thread thoroughly, but I see Prime Signature mentioned, so that must be 5-6K. In that price range, maybe a used Kuzma Stabi Ref 2, or NEW Stabi S-12 would be worth considering. Pairing that with a Stogi 12" arm may keep you in the desired price range.

all well and good, to which you are in the minority

I suspect you're right, so does Clearaudio make a 4k table to compare with ?

I agree, but one can't help but compare with the past !

as for the 1200G, the Op stated on a different forum (same thread) that he has zero interest, based on looks alone.

How is it to the SL1200 of yore , those had serious feedback and rumble issues on systems with big bass/Subwoofer Drivers ..

I could not have them in the same room , where as we could place all our BD floaters in the same room..

The best DD tables i tried back then were the Kenwood KD series , better and less susceptible than the technics with sub bass rumble/ feedback ..

Regards

After some intense listening sessions/demos and even a deal falling thru.............I have chosen my new TT. The Mcintosh MT10(Cartridge is the Clearaudio TALISMANN V2 GOLD).....my MT10 will arrive in a few weeks ......I am sure the new member will fit right in and sound and look right at home in my Audio System
