I currently have a dedicated Windows 10 PC running JRiver as my music server. I would like to setup Tidal on it and remote control Tidal from my iPad. Is it possible?

I have the same as you and to run Tidal or Qobuz on the iPad I have to use Roon. If you download Tidal on the iPad you can only play through the iPads speakers

I know that you are using JRiver. But FWIW, Tidal works great in conjunction with Roon. You can download Roon to your PC and try it for free. If you use Roon, you connect Roon with Tidal and you don't even have to use the Tidal app. The Roon GUI is much better than Tidal's.

I bought the lifetime subscription to Roon. I knew that my main listening from here on will be streaming. There are still hiccups. But, the freedom of building listening libraries and finding new artist or old forgotten music makes it worth the investment. Also I've given up using JRivers or upgrading to this years version of the same software. Plus I don't use it for what was my main reason. And that was to download to my Harddrives and watch my movie library. I'm movied out.

So, I need to install roon on the PC. Is there a app for the Ipad which will allow me to control roon on the PC?

Yes to both.

Roon installed on the PC or Server is considered the Core, and the application installed on the iPad is how you remotely access the Core - it’s really simple to install and connect.

You can send Tidal output directly to JRiver.

1. Enable the JRiver WDM driver in JRiver
Tools > Options > General > Features > Check the "WDM Driver" box.

(This enables JRiver as an audio output on your Win10 PC)

2. Select JRiver as Sound Output in TIDAL

TIDAL Settings > Streaming > Sound Output
Set the output to JRiver from the dropdown menu

To listen to music, open JRiver and TIDAL desktop.
Control playback via the TIDAL desktop client

To use your iPad - install Remote Desktop and remote into your Win10 PC.

Folks, if anyone's interested in MQA via Tidal, one of our staff made a vid about it:
