Thixar Audio Eliminator

Is this a distant relative of the Shakti Stones?

Has anyone just tried a block of steel wrapped in shelf paper decoupled by a slab of sorbothane? That's what I use on top of my CDP.
What would be the difference in that and this product besides the polished container?
 
I checked out this Thixar thing: 400 bucks for a metal case with some heavy rubber stuff in it. Well, well, well.
