Integrated versus separates.

The fear of inferior performance in certain recordings keeps me in separates. I get that in A/B testing the difference may not be considered worth the extra dollars to many, but I believe separates are in general going to bring you to a higher level of performance across a broad spectrum of recordings. This may not show up as clearly in small samplings at an audition. That said, the value decision is of course entirely personal.

Have yet to hear an integrated that rivals even modest separates. It's all about power supplies separated. Signal paths protected without PCBs. Hand wired. Once all the electronics jam together I hear electronic sheen.
