The speaker fairy showed up today - JBL 4367 !!!

Congrats Joe, they must sound great with the Ayres.

Besides the undistorted highs of the horns that woofer should definitely be able to deliver bass aplomb!

So, the high end fairy has been good to you lately, huh? [emoji2]

I've been a good boy :D, I promise.

The Ayre on them is a heck of a lot better than I expected. I'm trying to break everything in together but don't hear any shortcomings. I can tell the speakers are starting to loosen up a bit. Everything is starting to relax and the bass packs a nice whollop.

Great looking speakers Joe...they need some aluminum tho ;) I kid. Congrats and enjoy them

Thank you so much for break in for me [emoji6]

Nice. We need more pics! :D

Thanks! They will come .....

You may borrow it to see how the combo sounds...

Thanks Andy :)

Tubes Joe, tubes!!! You need tubes on horns.

You ain't heard nothin' yet.

ART monos this weekend for sure. I am sure it'll be a killer combo.

Ha!!! NO!

I bet those new Mk 2 Magicos could be awesome too.

No problem my friend. You NEED these speakers Paul. :audiophile:

A recent audition of the Unison research Max 1's has inspired me to build a speaker like this with a horn loaded compression driver. The dynamics were outstanding, I imagine the JBL's are on another level though. :)

That could be a lot of fun Mike. I am not afraid to crank these, unlike the Strads, which I tend to baby a little more than I probably should. I don't want to "hurt" my Strads, silly I know.

I'm sure your eardrums would be blown out of your head before those speakers started to strain :) I'm thinking about using the TAD TD-4003 beryllium compression drivers:

together with some 15" PHL 5011 woofers:

for my build. Along with a 100% Dueland based xover :)

Oh wow! I'd love to hear that setup once finalized. I am sure you'd make it a killer audition. Keep us updated.

Hypex has a new SOTA OEM DSP system almost the same as what's in the KII speakers. I'll start playing around with that combined with the NC-500's for an active version, then I'll make a passive version with the Dueland's. It should be a fun project! It's not top priority right now, but I'll keep you posted on my progress once underway :)

Any additional feedback on the NC500 vs400..? Also i notice some choosing the Ucdmodules over the NC, any thoughts on that ..?

All depends on the input buffer used and personal taste. The only reason anyone would choose the UCD models over the Ncore's is lower price. The OEM pricing on the UCD 400's is half of what the NC-500's cost.

Price is not of concern to these guys, it was chosen because they sounded better and yes i do believe a mod is being done to the input stage.

Do you have any direct experience with the different modules ..?
