The Sonore Signature Rendu seems to be "da bomb"

Cyril,

Its called the Laufertecnik Memory Player and costs $20K. Peanuts for you uber-Vinyl guys. LoL

As if vinyl is not an even deeper rabbit hole. Hahahahaha

On a serious note, its nowhere near as complicated as it seems if you decide to compromise. If you give up the notion of TOTAL library availability, yet still retain waaay more convenience than vinyl (with huge playlists still at your fingertips - so you still can relay on the couch the whole day), the check out the Dutch firm EC Designs with their SD Card reader/Dac (Price circa $2K). The SD-2 model uses the card reader as the Transport in a dedicated music device and can digital out to a different/favourite Dac if you want to.

SDXC cards are now up to 512gb capacity and they dont move data around for optimizing for speed. They are optimized for music/photo-streaming. Thus if you go this route and make yourself several playlist with cheap 64gb card playlists(16 DSD1x albums), how often do you think you have to get up and change cards, compared to a typical LP? Go 128gb and double couch time!!!!! Plus you cut out all the techie stuff of trying to get the NAS(ty) to play play nice.

SIMPLES.

How do you instal this on Synology ? Do you need to do it manually ?

I have installed the Minim Server previously from the Synology 'Apps Store', but can't find the Bubble in there.

Yes. There is a version for Synology. Follow the link in my first post and download it and install it manually to your Synology.

The more I read about digital, the more I delay wanting to rush in as it feels like it's a constantly moving target with different implementations and set ups (never mind the different file formats: PCM vs DSD, and now MQA for streaming, etc...). I am waiting for the day when you get a single ripper/server/DAC where you house everything in one box and if you want to rip a CD from a physical library and store it it digitally it does it for you in bit-perfect fashion and does the storing and cataloging automatically or if you want to download/stream from an online music store you can do that too. The way things are right now, you need a freaking computer science degree to set up either a server with on-board storage or separate NAS storage linked up either to the DAC directly or via a streamer with multiple communication link formats. Too complicated and it's constantly changing! If you need a post-graduate degree to listen to your music, it's going to remain a very small niche market until it can get simplified down to a simplified one-box deal with a set-it and forget-it type functionality.

I agree Cyril and after fussing and mussing with this other stuff, I appreciate the simplicity of a A1 (or S1)/L1 combo even more. The Lumin app is superb and streaming with Tidal is super simple. Download the Tidal app, select Lumin as the output and voila. Done.

Cyril wants a RUR ripper in there too.

RUR = read until right.

I agree with you on the app. I love it. However streaming from Tidal is even better on a Linn streamer as it native streaming. In other words you tell the streamer to take it's contant from the Tidal server like it would be your own NAS. Same app (Kazoo) and just choose Tidal.

I downloaded this today to try on the Lumin. Cool app!

Can you use the native streaming function on the Lumin renderer? Because interestingly it worked only when Linn updated the firmware... For the normal NAS streaming I prefer the Lumin app though.

Yes, I mean do you see the Tidal button as shown on the picture and if you push it will your Lumin renderer stream content from Tidal?

No, it requires Davaar 23 or 24. Is that for the NAS or for the Linn DS (firmware)?

Davaar is the name for the Linn firmware. I was wondering how that should work. I think Lumin should update the firmware and activate native streaming for Tidal. I am sure Tidal will support that it is t=just the programming on the Lumin side I guess. In Kazoo it works fine. You can just search like it is on your own NAS. You'll even get artist info and selections and collaborations on the side bar. Really cool. Only the support for playlists is weak in Kazoo. In order to save in playlist you must open Kinsky or Lumin. n a side note: the Lumin app is showing the Tidal content perfectly.

Interesting!

The Lumin has Internet Radio TuneIn built in, so building in Tidal shouldn't be too difficult.

I agree. I also use the built-in TuneIn on the Linn. So the Lumin app is saving playlists with Tidal content. For the app or the Linn is doesn't matter where the content is located as long as it is known. So basically I use three locations now: a share on my NAS with lossless material. I use Minim Server to serve the share. A second share on the same NAS with lossy material. Twonky is directed here. And now Tidal. It is great to have such a big music collection at your disposal in easy apps.

Cyril, I wouldn't hold your breathe. :|

I've been streaming for over 10 years, and haven't found the "perfect" solution. In fact...one of the things that made me finally break down, and buy an Aurender; is I was tired of having one foot in this solution, and one foot in that.

Streaming has been a moving target; and so you either need to pick your poison, and hone-in on a solution that works best for you (and then commit, and bend it to suit your needs). Or...if you try to hedge your bets, and be jack of all trades; you'll be master of none.

I looked at it; I actually saw one for sale, used. IDK; $3k, and you have to bring your own server to the party?

Units that you find are likely the standard Rendu. These units all had SPDIF output and some had i2s output depending on how they were ordered. Also, any computer can be a server and or controller for the Rendu series. You can also use a dedicated computer or NAS, but it's not necessary.

Welcome to the forum Jesus, thank you so much for joining.

Why would you say that Norman? I think based on specs the Auralic, with the double Femto clocks and all has everything on board to be absolute top. I am not saying you are wrong but I haven't seen an indication for it so far.

I'll speak about the Signature Series Rendu only. The Rendu's oscillators are powered by a very clean power supply and no DC to DC converters are utilized downstream of the power supply. This is important in order to obtain the best performance from the oscillators. Equally important is the proprietary isolation scheme utilized to keep the audio signal free of noise.
