Still, the sound is only part of it. Spending time with other audiophiles and industry people, and just seeing some of the gear is almost more important to me than having a lot of good sounding rooms (as long as there are at least a few)

One could argue that all the turntables, and their associated difficulties (setup, etc) contributed to this. One could, but I won't

Rob, the sound was much better overall last year. Not sure what happened. I began the day at MBL and the bass was way off and then an amp went down due to voltage - kind of started off the weekend on the wrong foot

Had a wonderful weekend of course with all of our friends and industry folk. That really is the main reason I go these days.

As far as music, had no issues playing my own stuff - in general, I'd say people asked me to play my music

Joe, we're just having fun. What Keith and Rob said Is why I go, to reconnect with old and new acquaintances. Newport was no different than any other show, some rooms got better sound than others that's a given. I missed last year but prior years seem to have had a greater turnout both by exhibitors and attendees. It will be interesting to see if this show continues to have legs.

I thought last year's show was better than the year before, and both were excellent compared to RMAF (the only other shows I have attended this century), which is also excellent. I hope both these shows continue and continue with good industry support, because from a consumer's standpoint they are important.
