The SHOW Newport coming in 5 weeks.

Nothing positive to add?

My comment was a reflection on the size of the industry. 160-170 rooms and still so many manufacturers not represented. And that is based on just my small wish list, not a comprehensive listing. I expect to have a great time. I always have fun at CES and the Newport Show should be a more relaxed atmosphere.

That is a good question. What manufactures were you hoping to see?

With one exception, it looks like my list (if I had one) would be fulfilled. In fact, I think I read somewhere that Cavalli was going to be there. Kind of embarrassing for me in a sense. Why? I was at what turned out to be a high-end headphone show a few months ago (won't do that again....boring and frustrating at the same time) and this lovely young woman with Cavalli was beckoning me over to their tables and to me it looked like high high-end, all fancy and everything, I thought they might be serving caviar or something, so she's signaling me to come over and I'm standing there thinking "oh, hell no", so I didn't go over. Turns out, they were introducing an affordable headphone amp amongst the uber-priced stuff she wanted me to try I guess (even though I'm not looking for one). So if they are at Show, I would have to stop at their booth to make amends with my own intellectual integrity and say a cordial hello, if nothing else. The good folks from Schiit will be there, so it's good.

which manufacturers? i see almost every major one there- except Devore/Shindo who don't like shows. Vapor isn't listed either, though Ryan has been at the last two.

These speakers may be used by a manufacturer demonstrating electronics but I did not see the brands listed. In no particular order:

Sonus Faber
Nola
Rosso Fiorentino
Verity
Magico S3
Scaena

I do. That is to say I can state that I know I have run across the following in the guide:
Sonus Faber
Rosso Fiorentino (I happen to know that Avatar Acoustic will have these going)
Magico S3

Brian Berdan always has an SF room. Probably with Ayre.

Nola has been there every year, but it appears Carl went to Munich and did not do Axpona nor Newport.

Scaena was there two years ago.

Verity has one dealer in SoCal (Audio Salon)- but he sells both Wilson and Magico and has represented those brands the past few years.

7 days, fellas! I have been speaker shopping recently, so my focus will be almost exclusively in that arena. How about you?

I wasn't going to go until about two months before hand when I decided that having only been once about 3 years ago and not having a good time there, why not try once more and seek to do it differently. I decided to just do the seminars.
Yeah, that would have been a better experience for me I think and different than last time. However, that has now changed as well.
I was hoping for a different and more importantly better experience this time and.....you know that saying, "be careful what you wish for"?
Well, boy, did I get different this time! Thanks to a couple+ of folks for inspiration and support, I'm going with a whole new set of goals and such and I think this time is going to be an entirely different experience for me!

Keith and MusicDirector, Thank you for the info. Have a great time at the show. MD don't forget to check out Emerald Physics. They have speakers similar to the Spatial you mentioned you are interested in. Spatial is introducing the new Hologram M3 open baffle speaker.

As my hit list showed I am primarily interested in new speakers. Secondary is an integrated amp that I can both afford and lift. I might also look at entry level or a little better TTS. I don't remember any manufacturers being on the list of exhibitors. I think that might be because my priorities were elsewhere.

Re: Scaena. I was told they might be there next year.
Re: Nola. Scheduling conflict with Carl's daughter's wedding. He said he would return to the show next year.

No profile for Ayre so I could not see what speakers they would use.

I’ll be sure to check out Emerald Physics (they are on my list).
Sadly, I can’t take advantage of any show specials as I don’t have money for anything right now. I need to save up for whatever I think I need or want. I actually, should be looking for a DAC for my PC first since that is an issue right now. Speakers can come later as can headphones of the three items I’m kind of looking for.
That said though, I’m not strictly going for a certain item or items. This is a multi-faceted trip for me. I may be quite busy…..who am I kidding, I will be busy and that’s a good thing.
As for manufactures exhibiting, just a count from the letter A thru D I see 21 manufactures listed as exhibitors and I may have still missed a couple just glancing. I also know of some who are not on that list that will be exhibiting.

MusicDirector do you mean 21 manufacturers you are interested in from A-D? Because there are close to 50 "A"s alone. 321 exhibitors total and exhibit space sold out according to info I received from the show.

Hardly. I'm probably personally interested in maybe 20% of them, I don't know. I'm not into gear much and I'm not aware of model lines from various makes and all that. All I did was look at the list briefly and picked out the "manufactures" that are specifically exhibiting in their own right in just that portion. I don't have time to go through the whole list.
It doesn't matter one iota what I'm interested in, it's not about me. The only part about me is whether I have a good time or not and that is the part that is 99.9% my responsibility.

Some of the names listed are dealers and not manufactures. Like I said, I might have missed a couple just in that.

You said that you did not see any manufactures, so I was just pointing out some that will be there.

If you get a chance, check out the Riva exhibit. You won't believe what you hear. There is a jaw drop factor to it, especially if you have heard bluetooth speakers before.
No, I don't need a bluetooth speaker, I just stumbled into a demo of this one a few months ago.
