The SHOW Newport coming in 5 weeks.

3 exhibitors on that list that are big Wilson dealers- don't worry.

It's just that the Wilson people themselves are usually the exhibitors and this time it's just the dealers I guess. Just wanted to see if everything was ok with Wilson as this is the first time they have not been on the list and I got used to seeing them listed, that's all.

Scott Walker Audio will be there with Magico and Audio Element will have SF. That list includes dealers as "exhibitors" not the manufacturers they represent. I don't believe any of the attendance #s of these shows, but i seem to recall seeing a 7,000 number with 180 rooms last year. For instance- I think most of these shows count a 3-day pass as 3 people. And a lot of attendance is press/exhibitor related.

Apparently the new hotel has the best rooms of any show- its worth it to go just for that.

Thanks for the info Keith..

Edit: Audio Element will have 3 rooms with Wilson speakers..

It's actually a mix of both dealers and manufacture reps.

That's true for all the shows (except CES), and somewhat deceptive because most manufacturers representatives will be there, often in force; they'll just be "working" through the dealers rather than the companies themselves. No difference at all to the attendees, it just looks different on the list of exhibitors.

Something else to note: The exhibitor list is not comprehensive (or that accurate for the matter). 1) it lists some exhibitors twice and 2) there are some exhibitors that will be there that are not in the list, like Schiit for instance. Yes, I just spoke to someone there yesterday and they will be at The SHOW. (Personal note: Super folks, do stop by and say hello).

I wanted to extend an invitation to all of you who will be there to make a point of coming to visit the LampizatOr room (1144).

We have a really nice line up and will be showing our Lite 7 DAC, which is the new entry level to our directly heated triode output stage line, along with some lovely Salk speakers, a Wells Audio Inamorata Signature and Danacables.

The Lite 7 delivers the lions share of what the Big 7 has to offer and includes our universally praised DSD128 module at a price most can stomach.

I hope to meet many of you there!

I did a quick count of the rooms listed in the program for Newport Beach 2014 and I got 112 rooms not counting marketplace and headphone areas. By comparison CES + T.H.E. Show in Vegas had approximately 240 rooms in 2014.

I just did a mapped count. Counting the marketplace as one and the ball room as one and Headphone area as one and not counting the backyard, I get a count of 172 rooms. Subtract those three and its 169.
172 is enough, especially if you factor in spending any time in any of them!

My numbers were for last year. The show was promised to be bigger this year. 160-170 rooms is huge and still missing most of the speakers I want to hear.

I don't know what speakers you want to hear. There will be a variety from the looks of it, all the way up to the highest of high-end. All types will be there as well from what I can tell. If you have not done so, check the exhibitor profiles and the program guide as a lot of the exhibitors are saying exactly what they will be bringing.

MusicDirector, Thank you for the tip. I had been all over the exhibitor list under the "Exhibitor" tab but had not seen the "Exhibitor Profiles" under the "Attendees" tab. That has already proven very useful and I only checked a couple of exhibitor for their profiles. I think I ignored it before thinking it only gave basics for the companies most of which I am familiar with. I did not expect equipment to be listed. I was only doing some preliminary research before. Now, with less than two weeks left and the exhibitor list final, I am getting more serious. The profiles will be very useful.

Where is the "program guide"?

Two ways to get there.
1) Go to the show home page and scroll down, you will see a little add thing or fancy link or whatever they call it.
2) Gor to the exhibitor's list under Attendees and look to your right. You'll see a button there for downloading the guide. (It's pdf).

Got it thanks. I am playing catch up. I just came back (Saturday night) from 2.5 weeks in OH fixing my mother's home and I am way behind getting my research finished for the show. Plus my pool is slimed, the grass needs mowed, and my cupboard is bare. It would not be so bad if I wasn't trashed from 11.5 hours in cars, planes, and airports. Neither my body or brain is working 100%.

9 floors of audio at this show and folks are already complaining before it starts lol...

Yeah, anyone who looks at the details will quickly realize that it's not what seems to not be there, it's more like how the heck am I going to fit all this mess into my time allotted there?
(I'm not complaining).
If one spent one minute in each room and at each booth, it would take a good 3 hours to get through it. However, who spends one minute per? On average the whole thing can not be done in a day and that's with skipping some booths and rooms!

Nothing positive to add?

My comment was a reflection on the size of the industry. 160-170 rooms and still so many manufacturers not represented. And that is based on just my small wish list, not a comprehensive listing. I expect to have a great time. I always have fun at CES and the Newport Show should be a more relaxed atmosphere.

which manufacturers? i see almost every major one there- except Devore/Shindo who don't like shows. Vapor isn't listed either, though Ryan has been at the last two.
