The Music Has Died.

MDP,

Hang in there buddy. I went a solid 2 or so years without a main stereo rig. Can't say I was a happy camper during that time, but I survived. Somehow... hehe

Anyway, it's awesome to see that your significant other cares about the system nearly as much as you do! Now THAT, my friend, is irreplaceable.

You're right, she's definitely a keeper !!

Mark...good luck with the move. You might want to use this as an opportunity to check out a headphone setup (maybe get a headphone amp with two outputs and try two different cans and this way both you and your wife can enjoy music simultaneously)? Although, that iFi retro with the LS3/5 speakers looks like a great little way of having good quality music in the house until the move.

Thanks Cyril. It's not been very long, and already I think the Bose system I'm my Yukon is damn good :panic:

Mark.......It is interesting to note your wife enjoys listening to music with you. I wish I could get Marlene to sit with me and enjoy music but she is a TV person. If music is playing, she still wants to have the television on. The few times I have convinced her to sit with me in the studio and listen to a recording she will remain quiet about a minute and then wants to talk. My sound system in the living room, as great as it is, has become a background music player. I like to enjoy music when I am cooking or have some little project going on but I keep it down unless she goes out to spend time with her horse. Then I turn it up and shut the damn television off. I think you are most fortunate to have a mate who shares your enthusiasm for music in your home. I'm just guessing but I feel relatively certain that isn't the norm for most of us. I am so thankful to also have my studio system.

Sorry to hear you are without the music system in your home but I feel confident your new home will offer an even better listening experience once you are settled.

You'll be back up and running in no time Mark and the sweet tunes will be singing in your beautiful new home.

P.S. Where's my room?

Two months off ought to give you enough time to break in a new VPI Classic Signature and some Siltech cables before the new Salon 3's arrive next year ;)

Mark, give the Bose another week & you'll be eyeing up the whole system....:snicker: Very low profile so would suit the criteria of the sale. :hide::ignore:

Bob, I'm personally moving all my gear along with some other stuff ahead of the big move. Our new house is finished and ready to move in. I will be heading down there next Wednesday with a friend to help me.
We are planning to get in 3 days of golf, good Tequila and Bourbon, and some great food before we head back to Texas.

and where were you moving to in GA , I saw Tequila and Bourbon and golf :D

Hey Mark,

The good thing about being without your sound is that it will be twice when you'll hear it again in your new house! Are you going to do some acoustic preparations in your new house? Is it in or around Atlanta?

Thanks Cyril. It's not been very long, and already I think the Bose system I'm my Yukon is damn good :panic:
I have a Bose in my Audi and I always think the same. And the beauty ia that all the compressed music from my 160GB iPog sound good too. Even the bad recordings. Very forgiving!
Of course we both know that the great finesses of our home installation are missing but hey, its a car.

Chris, we're moving to a golf community that is also on the second largest lake in Georgia. The name of the community is Reynolds Plantation.

Dan, I also do all the cooking at our house. We're coming up on our 33rd anniversary. Susan and I enjoy having the music on while we enjoy a beverage or two while I'm cooking.
I am most fortunate to have her, and my friends remind me all the time

That's real nice Mark. I am also a cook, have been for years. Have you ever noticed any effect on your cooking from playing music while cooking? I have, it can really kick things up a notch. I don't know why or how, but it does.
By the way, a lot of chefs (and cooks) are also musicians or have been at one time.

lake Ocnoee. Nice fishin and great golf.

Chris, I also love to fish. I have a Gambler 2200 Bass Boat that I love to use. It's a great place for us, considering how much I love to be outdoors.

I just got back last night from moving all my gear to the new house. I no longer have to worry about that stuff. We just received an offer on our house here in Texas, so hopefully we'll be moving soon.
Starting a new adventure in life at my age is both very exciting, and a little scary, but I'm getting really anxious.

Well, one less stress point to worry about. Gear successfuly moved without incident---Check!
Offer on old house received ---Check!

Now for the CHECK (cheque) and you can close that chapter.
Good on you Mark.

We have a closing date of June 25th on our current house :yahoo1:

We will move on the 27th or 28th to the new house. I will have my system setup immediately after we arrive. The wait is almost over.

I sure hope my new room sounds as good as this one did, I'm a little nervous about it.

Fantastic Mark!
If the new room is not quite up to par, remember a little tweak here or there or if needed, a little treatment will go a long way.
