Too bad you guys didn't get to hear the Pass amp with an appropriate speaker. I'm still trying to wrap my head around an audio club in Las Vegas where the members get together and drink soda pop. :weird:
Well, the Pres. of Pass Labs, Desmond Harrington said it would be ok to use with the JBLs.
As for the drinks, or lack of them, we wanna be sober when evaluating equipment on demo from manufacturers and/or other members' systems. I don't think being sloppy drunk lends to properly hearing and evaluating the systems.
A little condescending and opinionated today, are we?
Hell, what's different about today?
Apparently Desmond was wrong based on the comments from your listening panel. Too much speaker and not enough amp seemed to be the verdict. This was obviously not a good way to listen to the Pass amp and form any opinions other than it wasn't suited for the JBL speaker used.
Who said anything about getting trashed? After reading about your last two meetings. I just thought you guys were an AA meeting masquerading as an audio club. The last meeting you posted about you guys were sitting outside getting your ears drilled by a PA system while you munched on subs, chips and drank soda. This time you spent hours listening to a hopelessly mismatched amp/speaker combo while munching on pizza and drinking more soda pop. I would have needed a few beers just to dull the pain.
Does anybody in your club have a good sounding stereo system and enjoys having some drinks with friends? If so, that's where I would be hanging out.
Dave-I went to your website and unless I'm missing something, I see no links to members and their systems.
Wow,
Really like the web site linked, nice layout and a great club to boot ... Congrats ..
Thanks for your support, we have a strong passion for audio and music. This is of course, reflected in our meetings and in our promotional materials such as the site. And a big thanks to the people who run this board, and the other audio-related boards out there, for allowing us to spread the word!
