The Dynaco ST70 is being reintroduced this year.

Back in the early '70s, when I built & modified my Stereo 70 kit, it cost less than $200. :disbelief: I used it for awhile on my Infinity SS-1 electrostatic tweeters. Really great amp, the absolute winner anywhere near its price class.

Yes, the ARC D-51 (at $695) I ultimately replaced it with was better, but not even close to three times better. I'd expect the new Dyna to carry the tradition forward - another high value amp..

I would rather buy this AVA Ultra Valve tube amp that is based on the Dynaco ST-70 but modified.

It is a wonderful amp for the money. Frank recently lowered the price. It sounds great as I have heard it at his home a few times. I heard it drive these Salk HT-3 Veracity speakers with a rated sensitivity of 84db with no problems.

Here is a review of the Ultra Valve-

By the way, there is a nice review in TAS of Franks new mono blocks. They sound awesome and have 850 wpc and it is a hybrid tube/ss design.

I also did a review for Frank on his new DVA 700 SS amp (350wpc) and his new DAC on the Audio Circles forum.

Sorry, I didn't mean for this to be about AVA gear, got a little carried away.

Franks does produce some great gear not flashy but it works and you don't have to sell a kidney to purchase his components. :)
