The best speakers on the planet (according to C|Net's Steve Guttenberg)

He's previously really liked some Altec 604s. And those MBLs always disappoint IMO.

There is no listing of genesis , how can a list of best a term I don't like to use not have them. Not one line source no Nola either
I guess Amy list of the best of the best can be Highly subjective

most of the speakers on it can be had for less than the price of a well-optioned Honda Accord.

Wow, the Honda Accord must be really expensive in the US!

Maybe he needs a qualifier (like price range)?

To me...

MBL 101 xTremes
Avantgarde Duo/Trio XD
Magico M3/M Pro
Estellon
Vandy 7 Mk2
....a few others are truly great.

....I will agree, the Blade 2's, Magico S1 mk2's, Maggie's, etc. are all excellent.

Any serious 'Best of' list should be broken down into different types of tranducers such as horns, dynamic speakers, line source, planar magnetic/ESL & hybrid, then broken down into price categories like Sterephile do. I am sure you would find Magico, Gryphon, Vandersteen, Rockport, MBL, Goldmund, Joseph Audio, Tannoy, Avantegarde, Tune Audio, Genesis, ML, Magnepan & Graz/TSW-resto'd Apogees in there. Some of the Marten and LV speakers are fun as well.

Stenheim Ref Statement, Vox Olympian, the huge Avantegarde system with the horn woofers, Tidal L'Assolutas, LumenWhite silverlight anniversary, the huge granite Fischer und Fisher, the top Lansches, The top Trenner & Freidl, etc...these MUST be in any such list.

I agree to tripe of transducer as well as implementation. Now a new catgut ray can be sounds good and looks like art. I do like horns as well as ribbons I wonder why that is. Anyone can explain this too please.
