Worth watching as they test the measured performance claims (spoiler alert, it fails) and they give their opinion on the yoke. The analysis of the build quality of this $130k car is also interesting.

Good to see a proper review and not a “let’s not piss off Elon” review. Reminds me of Jeremy Clarkson bringing along a car full of lawyers when he reviewed at Tesla. LOL.

Agree with him that the Model 3 is the one if you must go Tesla.

Sometimes I wonder if it’s better to wait, but then I think it’ll be awesome to get the Tesla now for example. I would love a real world 400-500 mile range but wonder if that’s too optimistic.

It seems like the auto industry is at a bit of a crossroads right now, chip shortages and a lack of vehicles on the lots.

I've been very happy with driving a Tesla -- since 2016. Very very few people NEED a longer range; it's mostly range anxiety. Because it's only an extra 15-20 minutes to do a Supercharger stop along the way on a long trip.

What has kept me from seriously considering any other brand is the lack of such high-speed charging. Sure, other than for a road-trip, who cares?? You just charge overnight at home. But if you want to charge on the road on a road trip, imho you need the speed and ease of access of Tesla supercharging.
 
I would like to try the "Yoke" steering wheel. From what I've seen it takes a short time to get the hang of it. Much like the one peddle driving. If there was a small display in front of the driver. I would switch the wheel out. Just to try it. I waited to order the the 2021 refresh model 3 in February to avoid the end of the quarter push in production and sales issues. Anyone who has worked production kind of knows. Don't buy the first versions of a new product.

1/10th of a second difference when measured the same way in which Tesla measures it. Still “by far” the fastest car they have ever tested. Edmunds even says 1/10th difference means nothing. For the sickness he’s clearly on a track and comparing his experiences with a supercar or race car. Seems like you’re angry at Tesla now because you get car sick?
 
You'll have to feather in reverse. Easy-off the throttle and she slows down.

It's very different driving my Model Y vs my former Model S. I miss being able to tone down the regen braking; my wife as passenger misses it a LOT.

I've been a 'one-pedal driver' with all my Teslas and now with the Y it was just a learning curve. Really have to ease off the accelerator pedal with passengers in the car; when it's just me I don't feel it.

No not at all. It just doesn’t live up to the hype IMO. I don’t get the love affair for Tesla. The interior could be better. The car is only fast in a straight line and there is just too much stupidity associated with it. A yoke? Give me a break. This isn’t nightrider and to top it all off, autonomous driving is dangerous.

EV might be the future, but until it’s at 500 mile range and 5 minute to charge up, I think it will take a while to dominate.

IMO, Hydrogen may pass it by before it gains much more traction. I will be interested to see the cyber truck, but again, I am not hopeful. I’m not about to tow a trailer to Georgia and need to recharge 8 times. A two or three day job would take a week.

If I’m retired, don’t care about the thrill of driving and just need to toil to the grocery store around the corner or take my wife to the doctors every now and then, it makes sense. But I’m not there yet.

But to each their own, nothing personal. I just don’t get it.

Not to mention a bunch of obnoxious model 3 drivers on the road. On a sub $50g and they want to race anything that moves on the road.

Model S is already 405 mile range. Further than probably any gas car. So you’re saying if it was 95 miles more then it’d be worthwhile? As far as 5 min charge, do you really think you’d often be driving 800 miles straight and can’t take a lunch break to charge? Charge 8 times to get to GA? LOL, what? Are you leaving from CA or FL?

How about having a “full tank” every morning and spending zero time sitting at the gas station? I bet if you totaled up a years worth of going to the gas station it would FAR outweigh any time you might spend at a supercharger. I’ve had my car exactly one year and went to a supercharger twice, 15 min each time. So in one year I spent a grand total of half an hour at the “gas station”. And for us in the colder climates not going to the gas station in the winter is a major plus!

Personally I’m not into autopilot or full self driving or the gimmicks either but I don’t turn them on so it doesn’t impact me at all. The yoke, I’d like to actually try it before passing judgement.

Towing a trailer will kill that battery on the Tesla Truck. I’m anxiously waiting for those real numbers. A proper diesel truck can pull any trailer and you don’t have to think twice about pulling or refueling.

plaid is lame in the corners. It looked like Dad’s old saloon car. Reminded me of the last episode of The Grand Tour. If I wanted a four door sedan, I would get a proper one, something like a BMW M5 competition.

For $130k you can get a M5 Competition or a fully loaded C8 3LT convertible and have about $40k left over. As a mid engine, it will handle beautifully. Or you can get a 911 4S (992). Or plenty of other cars that will be proper handling cars in corners without a yoke and plenty fast enough in a straight line.

Like I said, nothing personal, horses for courses. But IMO Tesla’s are seriously overhyped. I’d consider a model 3 for my daughter or something, but even then, the level of distracted driving is off the charts.

Guess we’ll see how slow the Plaid is when driven properly on a real track.

I drive a Dodge RAM Limited and my GT4, depending on what we’re doing that day, so I guess so. And a 2500 diesel with RAM boxes, a split tail gate and bed extender with a big beautiful comfortable cab for five for long trips is great. Adjustable suspension is great for hitching up. Companies like Ford, GM and Ram own the truck market. It will be interesting to see what Tesla does. Again, to each their own. For me, it may sound silly, but the storage in the floor and RAM boxes are indispensable. I’ll be curious to see what storage the Cyber Truck has. Storage of tools and other materials like tarps and straps and so many other things is crucial. Couldn’t live without the ram boxes or something similar myself.

If I’m going for Nürburgring times, I’d sure love one of these (or even a 992 GT3):
