Telefunkin

Brent Jesse has a good rundown of the 12AX7's and 12AU7's...what they are,etc.. and how each sound...he is also a VERY reputable seller.

Something I have found to be true..while many of the military spec have zero noise or microphonics, they are not always the nicest sounding of them all...its fun trying them all though....LOL

Hi iamhifi, Thanks for that. Two questions: 1) who is GL? cannot think of the tube manufacturer; 2) how do you like the Isoclean Transformer 3030G...presume this is a power conditioner? What did you compare it to? Thanks for any guidance! (Great system!!!)
Like Joe said GL is Gold Lion, also the C22 60th anniversary is a new design, again on the line 12ax7 the GL sound it very natural compare to the regular Mullard that was very warm, the Mullard 10 M was warm and detail but too much of a good thing, the Tele smooth long plate was one tube that works well but mid and bass could be a better, the Amperex Bugle Boy D getter 1956 was like turning the loudness all the way. That said with vintage designs all the old stuff works very well, and the new gear depends on the design, what worked on the C22 might not work on yours, sadly you will have to tube roll, try first the GL and give it 100 hours. As per the Isoclean this is a non-filtration transformer system that works very well, I like it better than the Hydra 8 mk 2, it was as I took a veil out of the music. The only filtration system that I might consider is the Audience AR12 TS. Thank you for the system complement and good hunting.

I totally agree here. My integrated has lots of options for tube rolling. I've tried a few brands and found very, very small differences between them. Fortunately for my wallet, new production tubes sound just as good as NOS.

It all depends on the amp...I can roll input tubes and have distinctive differences. I also use a Mullard long plate for my Phase splitter tube (12AU7) and have about a dozen pairs of 12AX7 input tubes

Mullards (3 pairs - Mullard, HP and Fisher branded)
RCA triple mica black plates (2 pairs)
RCA grey plates (2 pairs)
GE military ( 2 pair JG WA's)
GE grey Plates (2 pairs)
Sylvania triple mica black plates - gold letter - gold pins (my babies) 5751's - Balance, air, wide stage, forward mids...I cant say enough...except...RARE as hell....

I agree also , great advise!! I alway loved mullards when I ran BAT gear, until I was forced into super tubes when I upgraded to an se model. Although those are great tubes I missed tube rolling.
Thing with these telefunkins is I havent given them any time to break in. Few hours into it and I sold my turntable. Lol so ill have to wait until the new one gets here to figure out if I want to try the mullards and maybe some others as well.
After that its time to test el34's for the snappers.
