TECHNICS SL-1200MK2 - Is this a decent turntable?

So I was cleaning out the stereo closet and there sat a box with the Technics Sl-1200 mk2 turntable with all the KAB upgrades- I forgot I bought it years ago when kids were young- DUH!!!:weird:
Anyway couple of questions- 1- Is it a decent turntable-
2- what cart. should I get-
3-Since I have not listened to vinyl in awhile how much better is it going to sound then my hi end DAC and server-
