Technics Reel to Reel

IIRC, some clown was recently asking 100K or so for a brand new, in box, Technics 1500. Price kept coming down and don't think it ever sold.

That's the problem now with the interest in reel to reel. Every Tom, Dick and Harry thinks they're going to hit the lotto. Same goes for the prices some are asking on eBay for those prerecorded, commercial, 2 or 4 track tapes. OTOH, there's a sucker born every day.
 
My $800 mint Technics 1500 seems like a steal now.

Sure does!

Certainly when it comes to sound, one's money could be spent a lot more wisely and get better sound. For instance one of Greg's decks. Or for the more ambitious, an A80 with Nick Doshi or Charlie Kings electronics. Even throw in some extended response heads.

Maybe it's a different story for a collector.
 
Nice machine, not very common. Jeff had an original mint one for sale a couple of years ago. I think he wanted around $7-8K. Even for that money it's still a pro-sumer.
