this table is just a game changer for me over anything else I've owned. Burmester phono- what can I say it's just a marvelous pce and this all coming from a tube lover :) Minus K just works, what table will you be placing on top

Speaking for myself...
that's a tough question to answer..Does the AF1 sounds better than my $30k Clearaudio Master Innovation ? Yes. Obviously the law of diminishing returns kicks in and pretty hard. I am on a mission to squeeze every last bit of sound I can muster from the formats I choose. I am fortunate to have the extra $$$ to spend on an extravagant table like the AF1. I did not think I would ever buy it, then I started to irrationalize and convinced myself that you only live once and plunked the money down. No regrets.
 
Rockitman - unlike the maturation process we have seen with digital, a great turntable today will be a great turntable in 5 or 10 years from now. Congrats on such a great table!

Thanks Mike. When I decided to make the purchase..I promised myself that it would be my last turntable purchase :snicker:.

Yes he has been out of town. I will hopefully speak to him this week. I will take some new pics soon. I am auditioning a new speaker cable this week. Nordost Odin. Should I prefer it significantly over the MIT MA-X SHD, I will have a full Odin wired system from armwand to speakers and to the wall outlets.

My table is the little brother of Christian's less expensive setup -- I have the CA Innovation. And the Minus K upgrade is based on his recommendation, as is the Accu Drive I just added. Thanks for recommending both Christian.

Well, Christian and my dealer. They both said the Accu Drive would make a noticeable difference, which it does.

It replaces the wall wart power supply with a automatic rechargeable battery power supply using lead acid batteries. It makes the table more speed stable and reduces the noise floor by quieter motor operation.

Thank you for your explanation Rockitman. So am I reading this right? When I've read descriptions of the Innovation Wood, it has been said to have the (OSC) electronic optical speed control…and this has only been powered by a tiny walwart power supply? If this is true, I am shocked.

I am a firm believer in sealed lead acid battery power supplies. My Linn LP12 was modded years ago with what was called the Pink Link by the then Pink Triangle Corp which is now known as the Funk Firm. They replaced the Linn's AC motor with a DC motor, moved it to the 7:30ish position on a new top plate and the speeds were regulated by a huge outboard power supply which also contained a 12V SLA battery. The improvement in sound was staggering! The music emerged from the blackest of backdrops, every little nuance brought forward, micro/macro dynamics were explosive and the drive of the music was incredible. No wavering of pitch on piano sustains or when the music hangs forever in an orchestral hall.

I can see how you would love the Accu Drive over a Wallwart power supply. I obviously assumed (my mistake) that the Innovation Wood would automatically come with something like the Accu Drive as a standard part n parcel at the prices they are asking for that table. I guess i've been out of the market for far too long. May I ask how much they've been charging for the additional Accu Drive?

It is true and it has an msrp of $2,500.00
 
Thanks to just dave, I have now lost interest in this thread and would only like to see more pictures of Dave's wife. :eyebrow:

It looks like March for my arm. I did order the Stainless steel upper platter for a different sound option vs the Duralumin. Hardens up the sound a bit (more lively), not quite as warm and supposedly extends deeper into the low bass region. So it will be cool to change the flavor of the sound from time to time. Perhaps today is the day I will do a photo shoot of the current rig.
