US Distributor DROPS Tannoy 2 weeks ago.

German Distributor DROPS Tannoy 2 weeks ago.

All their Chinese product shipped back from the "factory" in Scotland back to China as they no longer have that building in the UK.

Now the product has ben mfg in China, shipped to the UK, shipped BACK to China, and now faces tariffs to come back into the US.

Fired their staff except one person in the U.K.

Trying to find a small building in the U.K. to ship product from China to, to then ship from the UK to be able to claim "ships from the UK".

Berhinger (owner of Tannoy) being sued as of last week.

Yeah....just like many of the forum members claimed Tannoy is doing great.

I suppose this all really started when Fyne was created. Somebody saw it coming and got out. It's a shame to see a well known company with a few good sounding speakers go down like this.

The founders of Fyne saw the writing on the wall when Tannoy was sold. Also, Tannoy had stopped spending money on any R&D and innovation in the years before the sale.

They got out after the sale and saw the opportunity to come out with new and improved designs rather than the 30 year old unchanged designs of Tannoy.

Of course no one could foresee just how sad Tannoy was to become, between the Scottish government stepping in to smack down the new owners, the out right lies at time of purchase of "don't worry, we are keeping all of you and we are going to stay in the UK" and then they fired everyone. The sale of ALL of their manufacturing equipment they used to actually make product (I know the person who bought the equipment). The moving of production to China while pretending things were still in the U.K. and dramatically altering the quality. ETC. Etc.

If it wasn't for the former heads of Tannoy (the ones before, during and after the transition) and distributors of Tannoy going public with all they have, people may still actually believe it was a UK product. Of course there are still the forum nit-wits who believe all is normal at Tannoy and refused to acknowledge any of this was happening.

In fact the market is flooded with pre-made product they can't even sell at 50% off, and the amount of inventory they have in both pre-built product and components, it's been estimated it would take them 5+ years to sell through what's simply sitting unsold already. However with the loosing of the US distributor (who it's been said stole it from the previous distributor when he left them to start his own company - I can't confirm the reasons Tannoy went with them but I've heard suggestions from those involved), the German distributor, the terrible reception of their latest speaker (which is simply a re-hash of 10 year old designs that were dramatically cheapened and gutted), and loosing their building in the UK (let's just say there were legal actions involved), I really feel bad for anyone whose bought any of the Chi-noy product.
