Does anyone know what kind of DAC chip T+A uses?

INFORMATION

That's for the PCM side; I think it also has the Xilinix for the DSD side. Similar concept as the AMR DP777.

Yes, for DSD they have their in house designed true 1-bit converter.

Back into the "valley of the dead", again Mike?

Yeah, but i know you better than that. I just scored a Luxman DA-06,less than half price,... purdy sounding. :fingers:

Great write-up in the latest issue of the UK rag HiFi News & Review.

Just curious, what is the pricing for the various HV Series components here in the US?

I found this on soundstage....what do you think of the concept?

T+A Elektroakustik PDP 3000 HV SACD/CD player

I stopped by T+A Elektroakustik’s room to look at the prototype of their PDP 3000 HV SACD/CD player not once but at least eight times, including a few times with people I’d dragged out of other rooms because I wanted them to see this thing. Without question, the PDP 3000 HV was the electronic component that most impressed me at High End 2014. Its casework not only looked substantial, the quality of its finishing was among the best I’ve seen -- ever. Absolutely flawless. Then, inside, there was the disc transport, which T+A designed and manufactures in-house -- not even Esoteric makes a mechanism so robust. One person I brought to the room to see it is involved with a competing audio firm, and even he was shocked at the quality of build that T+A has brought to the table with this product, particularly if the rumors of a $20,000 retail price turn out to be accurate. Price uncertainty aside, the PDP 3000 HV’s build quality alone made me say, “Wow!”

Around back, I saw something unique to the PDP 3000 HV, and which I had to inquire about: separate analog outputs for PCM and DSD recordings. I was told that, inside, the PDP 3000 HV has individual analog reconstruction filters optimized for each format. Cool! At this time, disc-only players are on the way out, given the decline of physical media such as CDs and SACDs -- but with the PDP 3000 HV, T+A Elektroakustik has found a way to spark some enthusiasm for these formats -- at least in me.

Mike,
The separate analog outputs for pcm and dsd make very good sense and T+A are the first to come up with this in just one box. For me the deal breaker is the lack of a usb A port for a memory stick or SSD/HDD. You would still need to connect this to a computer/NAS to play hi-res.

Inching closer to ordering one of these....everything I'm reading is very positive.

If anything that is more of a feature and benefit, not a drawback. No matter how you look at it. Sorry.

Agree that may not be a drawback where SQ is concerned.
What I am looking for is a one-box solution that lets me listen to hi-res PCM/DSD without the computer, NAS, ethernet cable, etc....
The Lumin connects to HDD/SSD via its usb-A port.

Have read about the Aria but it doesn't play SACD's like the PDP3000.... :(

Hmmm....true. I can't think of anything that does what you're describing.

A PDP3000 and a Aurender would be as close as I can think of for your multitude of needs.

The Oppo 105D does it all but includes video
Reviews so far of its SQ for pure audio have not been too stellar....:(
