Switched to Class D or get left behind?

Not surprising you don't know what that means.
I know what Frito Lay "chips" are :D
Even more surprising why bring your speakers anywhere since you don't know what it means to listen?
Anyone sensible might realize I "bring my speakers anywhere"...for others to listen.
Unlike yourself, I do know what "listen" means. I do understand why you wouldn't want them in your room vs your JBL/MLs in front of peers ;-). Friend has a pair of those, quite familiar with them.

I don't think most people know how to actually listen and what to listen for. I was lucky enough to have been show how otherwise I wouldn't either.

Many simply listen for overall tone and don't understand that is a tiny fraction of critical listening.

So I think for those people - who really listen for tone only - it may sound similar in as much as some class D can be decent if you are listening only for the overall tone.

As an example I have a TEAC class D amp here. It is the best Class D I have heard at any price. It still doesn't come close to tubes. But if you only listen for overall tone it does sound similar to some tubes.

Think of those people as 1 dimensional listeners rather than 3 dimensional listeners.
There are hybrid integrated amplifiers with Class D and Class A tube pre section that sound very nice... I own one and enjoy it immensely.

He thinks from his experience, class A and AB have more grunt. Class D is clean and more tube like.
If the power supply for the class D is a bit wimpy (which is fairly common, since some people don't realize that the supply for a class D amp has to be very robust), I can easily see this being the case. It does not mean it extends to all class D amps, just that one...
I guess I am surprised that a company like his does not sell direct or at the very least publish the suggested pricing.
We do sell direct if a dealer isn't close by. The pricing is kept off line since people overseas will see a different price locally due to import duty, luxury taxes, shipping, etc., by request of our overseas distribution.

@atmasphere
Ralph, why are Mola amps $50k? As in, is there anything above a d beyond what you have done to merit the cost. Or is it a name they base the $$$$ on. Selling to audiophile with big wallet with a big $$$$.
