Surprised These Didn't Draw Any Attention

I saw them this afternoon and was going to post about them. Prices seem to be in between standard and premium tubes. I'd be willing to give them a try. Have you heard anything about them?

I'd try these in my GAT ....

This is very exciting!!! JJ took over from Tesla. Tesla did inherit the old manufacturing equipment from Telefunken. Telefunken have probably resurrected archival processes and assisted with re commissioning the specification. These could be as good as the NOS of the 1960s.

There is a God. His name is Telefunken. Pray for ECC803S next.

And look. WOW!!!!! :orgasm: McIntosh heaven, I wonder....

Guys holding on to the expensive NOS Telefunkens may have cause for concern.

I hope. That scarce market was getting ridiculous. Even though I have the rare white label, I use and enjoy them in my phone stage and don't covet them. If these are at least as good as the Tesla E83CC NOS gold pin/label, then the future of tube HiFi is assured. My money is here.

Given JJ's track record, I wouldn't hold my breath. The JJ ECC83/803s were the worst I ever tried from both a sonic and reliability side. I had four ECC83s fail in the first 100 hrs or less. Not to mention, the people who manufactured the original tube are long gone as are some of the materials they used in those days. Time will tell.

Mike take a look at the tube. That's not a ECC83 from Tele. That looks to me like a frame grid like a ECC803S.

The two best somewhat available ECC83s I've used in the Doshi are the NOS Tesla and the current EAT ECC803. Both seem to last forever. Most NOS Teslas though nowadays are for the most part, available from Eastern Europe.

I'd never consider a JJ but just maybe there is hope of Telefunken knowledge transfer.... They are putting their famous name to it. Even the blown glass tip looks TFK and not JJ. I'm thinking its a short frame grid too.

I've read that these are the best spec'd JJ's and re-labeled as Tele's. Nothing more. I'm not a big fan of JJ's myself so I'm not excited about the "new" Telefunken's whatsoever.

Somebody please explain to me how this is any different than when New Sensor bought up the rights to the Mullard, Tung-Sol, and Genelex names and came out with fairly good reproductions of the tube boxes but the tubes inside were all Sovtek tubes? So now you have tubes branded with the Telefunken label on the tube and Telefunken boxes, but you have JJ tubes inside the boxes. Big yawn from me unless I'm missing something here.

Well it was curious to me that no one here or anywhere else was crowing about the sound of these NS Teles. At least in anything more than some DIY amplifier or preamplifier.

'Course there was this promo material about the original JJs:

12AX7/ECC83S Tesla/JJ Tube

Tesla/JJ 12AX7/ECC83
These are near exact copies of exotic and rare Telefunken ECC803s.(not the flat-plate ECC83..but the really rare frame-grid style). These are the latest ECC83S variety.

From what I understand, the one company that can claim to have made a great copy of the Telefunken 12AX7 was the original EI company.

Right and here's a authentic ECC83.

It also looks like a short plate.

Myles. No. Rather I am referring that it looks like the TFK ECC803S short frame grid, same as what is in the Tesla E83CC, single getter variant. Both gold pins.

I will post a pic when I get a chance.

No need, I know the tube well since Tesla messed up the nomenclature when copying the TELE tubes.

Guys, have you ever tried the same tubes, but with the pin to cryogenic treatment?
if yes, any feedback ?
