I've just received the latest & most powerful Microsoft Windows Surface Pro 3 with Windows 8.1 Professional preloaded.
I went for the biggest spec, i7, 8GB Ram, 512GB SSD. The 2160x1440 touch & stylus display is a beauty. One Note really works. Pen based computing has come of age.
Now given that it is battery powered, full blown Wintel machine with a standard sized USB3 port....... It is begging for JRiver to be installed. I have a Wireworld Platinum Eclipse G7 & a McIntosh MCD1100 (upgraded USB) just waiting to be tethered....
Not only that, the Surface Pro 3 has a mini display port too. There is a mini display port to hdmi cable for this beast if you want to use it as a home theatre source. There is also a USB to Ethernet dongle.
Now, you might be thinking, only 1 USB. YES, 2 would of been better. But don't be so dismissive. It has half a terabyte of built in storage. And if WiFi streaming from your NAS won't cut it, there is always the optional docking station:
•3 USB 3.0 ports, 2 USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit Ethernet port, 3.5mm audio input/output connection, Mini DisplayPort
•Security lock slot
•Innovative design leaves the Mini DisplayPort and USB 3.0 port on your device available for use when docked
