Last week I visited a friend in FL, and on Tuesday, 9/26, we were in Sarasota. Mike was kind enough to meet us at Suncoast Audio for our visit, and, obviously, demo his gear.

First I want to thank him for his time and patience, and just say he is as nice in person as in the virtual world. Thanks Mike. :)

So, I listened to the M3 room, and the S5 Mk II room, and throughly enjoyed both. I was mainly interested in the Tidal streaming of both native, and MQA mastered, files. I haven't tried that yet and was very impressed with it. Now I just have to break down and try it, but I haven't gotten tired yet of the music I currently own. LOL

Anyway, I was also impressed by the bass definition of the M3. It was very distinct and separate from the rest of the music. I was surprised such little drivers really make an impact. They would work great in my living room. Oh oh.

Then again the S5 room was also muy bien. I believe both rooms were using Audio Research preamps, and they both sounded great. I keep hearing people say use a tube pre with SS amps, and maybe someday I will do that. Of course he was also using Shunyata power cords and MIT cables, so that probably also helped the sound.

Not sure what direction I am going to go when I decide to spend more 'retirement' money on stereo, but do know for sure where to spend it. Any dealer that carries Lumin, Magico, Pass, and Shunyata knows what they are doing.

Thanks again Mike.

Thanks Bud. It was so great to see you and have a nice visit. Glad you had a chance to stay and enjoy several of the systems.
