Last week I traded in a 12 year old Lincoln Town car for a 2019 Subaru Forester.

I bought the premium version which is second from the bottom.
It’s the standard configuration without extra options.

Absolutely love the car.

congrats!! ...a family member got the same model/trim/year 6 months ago -- wonderful car + great value for money. has got me thinking about the brand for myself when it comes time.

...what happened to the tesla model 3? :)

The Tesla is A LOT more money. My mother is going on 87 and she can get in and out of the Forester much easier. I still have my VW Golf R for more spirited driving sessions (for now). The Forester is much more practical right now and the Golf might be sold/traded in for the Tesla. I wanted something with great winter and rain performance. The Forester checked all the boxes for now. I’ll keep my eyes out for a future Tesla.

Congrats. Have been driving Outbacks for the past 15 years. Spirited driving....no. However, comfortable, pretty smooth on bad roads, great AWD, and lots of space for hauling gear. The 3.6L 6 cylinder has plenty enough power for me and a lot more than my previous 2.5L 4 cylinder. The 3.6R is a pig on gas in winter city driving, but so goes.

Congrats Joe! I know you’ve been looking for a while. Great choice.

That’s kind of you to take your Mom into consideration when buying a vehicle. Looks good in white.

Thank you so much Gary. She’s very important and I get no help from my 3 older brothers. She absolutely loves it too.

Thank you guys. I still want the Tesla badly but I do have fun in my Golf R. I know the Tesla is more fun. Now I can take my time and see what comes next for them.

nothing better for winter driving. there is a reason 70% of the cars you see in the adirondacks, northern VT, etc. are subarus of all vintages.

besides, the upcoming model y is the tesla to get, imo. so good to wait.

I have a (modified - engine & suspension) 2013 WRX which I purchased new.

My wife has a 2018 fully equipped Outback which she purchased new. Previously she had a 2010 Outback.

All have been great vehicles with no service or performance issues.

Between coworkers and neighbors, I can count about a dozen Subaru sales just recently. All of them very happy.

Thanks Sean. A smart purchase for me for once :)

I was going to buy a 2019 Subaru Forester. After a test drive, I was going to get the premium version like Joe got.

Was finalizing the sale, and I told the saleswomen that I wanted body side molding ($250.) included in the deal (sticker price,no other discounts).

After talking to her manager, I was told there wasn't enough mark-up to include the
body side molding.

I said fine, I'll just go buy a RAV4.

I''m very happy with my XLE.

Joe,

URaBus!

Joe, is the new model as lifeless / gutless as their Crosstrek? Both my sister and my sister-in-law own Crosstrek's and both complain about the lack of power.

Had a friend that owned one of the Forrester turbo models from years past and I recall that being pretty zippy and responsive. Not sure if they have a turbo model in the current Forrester line now or not?

That’s insane. I’m sure there’s room for a decent discount. I’m sorry they treated you like that.

Ha!

The 2019’s are on a new global platform. Look, it’s no rocket but feels like it wants to jump off the line. I have not pushed it yet but it feels adequate. Sure, 50 more horsepower would be great but I know what I’m getting into with the vehicle. Reviewers state how much more quiet, stiff and better the new models feel compared to the older ones.

My VW DSG gearbox in this car would be incredible. Oh well.

I used to have 2001 Subaru WRX as my weekend car. I loved that car and still love the brand.
