Just wanted to share a little excitement -- especially during COVID. Just made a deal to trade in my trusty XP-10 from 2015 for a brand spanking new XP-22. Hopefully it will be here by the end of week. Paired with my recent purchase (4 months ago) of the Pass Labs X250.8, I'm kind of feeling like Thanos having just acquired a second infinity stone for my audio glove. Only four more stones to go. HA!

For those with the XP-22, what kind of break-in period can I expect? Any other gotchas I should know about?

:D:D:D

Great news on the XP-22. It’s a very nice addition to your system.

PS: I’m officially an old fart since I’ve never heard of Thanos until now. :)

Congrats. The XP-22 is absolutely amazing. I have rather long listening sessions. I heard substantial differences after two weeks and it took about 4-5 weeks to fully settle. You're going to love it.

Congrats. We'll want to see pics, too.

Good job. I love my XP-22, which replaced the XP-20. While the XP-20 was great, the cable used to connect the power supply to the preamp was a useless piece of crap. Upgrading that cable made a big improvement in the sound. I am mentioning this because Pass changed the cable in the XP-22 to a well made, sturdy interconnect, and, for me, there is no reason to replace it.

Congrats! It’s an awesome preamp. Give it a few weeks 24/7 to break in.

Pre-amp actually arrived on Friday afternoon at the local UPS office but they didn't deliver it until today! :(

That being said, I've successfully pulled out my XP-10 from my rack and replaced it with the XP-22. Even out of the box with only 5 hours of use, I can already tell the difference. I've got a two week demo period, but I've already packed up my XP-10 to send it back (I used it as a trade-in). I can only imagine how it will improve over the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately, it's too dark right now for some natural light pictures. Those will have to wait until tomorrow!

One happy audiophile! :) :)

Congratulations! Always love a happy ending. XP-22/32 are way ahead of the previous models.

Enjoy it in great health.

I promised a picture ... sorry, the week has gotten away from me ... here's my stack of electronics. Interestingly, while the external supply is completely cool to the touch, the actual preamp runs just a touch warm. Is this because it's more biased into Class A operation? Certainly not as warm as the X250.8 in the foreground, but definitely warmer than my previous XP-10. Even with just a week of use, the stereo soundstage and the ability to hear further into the recording is just amazing.

Just to clarify -- when I said it runs a touch warm, I do mean just barely warmer than the ambient temperature in the room. I also just checked again and it is indeed just barely warm to the touch and the external power supply is room temperature.

That's why I asked the question ... just wondered if that was normal operation.

I’ll keep an eye on mine during the next few days. But I’ve never noticed it running warm. But then again, I understand warm as being what my Pass 260.8s run.

Ok, I've watched mine for the last couple days and no heat. Both boxes run very cool. However, I've been considering a XP-32 and re-read the post below where the user says the XP-32 runs cooler than the XP-22. So, I guess some get a little hotter than others.

Joe -- thanks for following up. I took a look at the thread to which you linked and have also reached out to PeterA to compare notes.

My XP-30 definitely generates some heat. Not amp-level or tube-level, but NOT cool.
