So I listen to XM Radio at the office and I hear this song come on and the singer sounds very familiar. Well it was a new release by Steve Perry! I did some digging and he has a new LP being released in a few weeks. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Traces_(Steve_Perry_album)
As a huge Steve Perry / Journey fan this is fantastic news. I am now hoping he decides to go on tour. I have seen the "new" Journey in concert and was sadly very disappointed. Guys just going through the motions to collect a payday.

Street Talk 1984
For The Love of Strange Medicine 1994

I would say it has been awhile since we have heard from Mr. Perry.

He's had about three other solo releases. I'll give it a go when it comes out in two weeks.

I'll be listening when this comes out. Steve Perry was the best lead rock singer ever, along with Freddie Mercury and Dennis DeYoung.

Journey and Steve Perry fan. Street Talk was good. Seemed like the next solo was trying to catch the old Journey sound, I didn't get into it much. I heard one track from the new album and wasn't overly excited by it. What made Street Talk a winner is it was something new and original at the time, a departure. Keeping an open mind though.

I'd add Steve Marriott to the greatest Rock list.

I thought something happened to his voice where he could not sing, hence they found the singer from the Philippines

Not the biggest Journey fan, but do respect Neil Schon especially with joining Santana at age 15.

If memory serves Perry left the band to stay home and off the road with his wife.

Journey did some very cool stuff on their first 3 albums before Perry joined the band, more Progressive Fusion type stuff. I'm actually a big Greg Rollie fan. Infinity, the first album with Perry, I still really enjoy, a perfect bridge of the former Journey and what would become the new version. Although a couple of the tracks are a bit overdone from Classic Rock stations.

They made an EP with the first guy who replaced Perry called Red 13, this has a couple worth while tracks.

If you can find it, and, you like Santana, Rollie and Schon put out an album with the band name Abraxas Pool. I like it quite a bit. The album has more modern production than older Santana, Latin flavored and both Rollie and Schon really shine.

A friend was given copies of the master tapes of Street Talk and Journey Escape from the mastering engineer. My friend gave them to me to dub. I had to bake them, but the dubs I made (to 1/2") turned out great. I'm not so much a Journey fan, but I really do like the Steve Perry Street Talk album.
