You do realize nothing is forcing you to come back and read anything you don't want to after the 4 years since your last post here, right?

Its so easy to hurl personal insults ftom behind a keyboard. Takes neither courage nor brains. Doing so creates an unpleasant, toxic environment on what should be a fun place that is all about this hobby we share. Mostly, i think people who engage in that sort of behavior don’t understand that it doesn’t make them look tough. It makes them look petty and small. Its too bad because most everyone here has something interesting to contribute about audio- which is why we joined this forum. The next time someone thinks about injecting politics or religion into this I have a modest suggestion. Do a quick poll of the group to see how many care about your religious or political views. Maybe I’m wrong, but I’m guessing the number would be in the statistically insignificant category. Doesnt cost much to be respectful of one another.
Just a thought. Let’s enjoy the misic.

I understand the sentiment, and on the surface it sounds nice.

In a perfect world, I would agree with you.

But the problem is that many of us have already tried the “just be respectful and ignore it” approach for years. What happened? The loudest bullies became more brazen, more aggressive, more personal, and more comfortable attacking people they disagree with.

At some point, staying silent does not create peace. It just teaches the bullies that there are no consequences.

I have made a personal choice that I am no longer going to sit quietly while people attack, mock, insult, or try to intimidate others and then expect everyone else to respond with polite little smiles in the name of “keeping things pleasant.”

In fact my very first post ever here was literally attacked - non-stop - because Mark (MEP) was triggered I used the word 'honest' in my description of Pass Labs. I had no idea who he was yet he was triggered somehow feeling that my using the word honest was a personal attack on him. I kid you not. His terror reign here for the following years is legendary. And this forum is famous for the members of what was deemed 'the hateful eight'. People like Porsche, MEP, Still-One, and others were the forum bullies for years. Some of us decided enough was enough of them as being nice got nothing but more attacks.

Respect is a two-way street.

I am all for enjoying the music. That is exactly why most of us are here. But I tried the being quite and it didn't work.

Wow, I haven't been on this website for a while and it looks like I have been missing out on some things.

I speak as a Californian and as someone who was raised Catholic, so I "confess" that I do have a phobia about religions. I'm glad that you left the west coast, since we don't need any bigots, religious or otherwise! I have been to Texas several times and I also have relatives who have lived there for over 10 years and are looking forward to the day when they can leave. So, I know something about the state.

"You need to be around "tolerant and inclusive people" so you moved to Texas? People in Texas seem to be tolerant and inclusive only if you are white and Christian. So I guess you feel right at home! Birds of a feather and all that.

How do you explain the bigoted and racist governor continually being re-elected? Also, 'The Texas State Board of Education approved a statewide reading list that makes Bible passages required reading for over 5 million public school students. The mandate introduces Bible verses alongside traditional classics and will roll out in phases starting in 2030."

If the state is so inclusive, why not include mandatory readings from other religious books like the Koran, Tanakh or Vedas?
Oh, but that would poison the minds of the children. Enjoy your religious "freedom" in Texas!
What an idiot you are! Please go away maroon!

I have no bone to pick with you at all and you are free to post whatever the moderator will allow. I think you have interesting observations on audio issues and often share your perspective. When the nasty starts, which gets in the gutter quickly I would just suggest it doesnt gain respect for those involved, the opposite is true. Folks who are inclined to turn an audio forum into a hog wallow may not care about that at all but should at least recognize that the vast majority of participants dont seem to care for it. I have no idea who started what, I’m not that clued in. I understand nothing is likely to change, that’s too bad but in the scheme of things inconsequential.
You might want to check things out, however, before attacking Porsche. Not a good look.

MIke. I think you should lock the thread and send a message regarding appropriate and inappropiate behavior.. This type of conduct compromises and demmeens the integrity of this forum. There is nothing beneficial to allowing continuation of abberent, disrespectful conduct. Ban political and religious topics. There are some posting conduct guidelines on other sites to address these issues.

From a personal perspective, I am new to AS. I joined to have enjoyable, non confrontational discussions about audio and music. Based on the trash talk that I am reading, I'm questioning that decision given past negative experiences. Please be pro active and address this issue. Am willing to help if you wish to consider. Best. Gordon

You are correct. However, here's a thought. Do not allow bullying conduct in the first place (establish and enforce posting conduct guidelines) and you can have peace and respect on both sides of the street. It can be done if members are willing to accept such guielines. See Post No. 81. Otherwise, it's a free for all as apparently currently exists. But maybe that's what this forum wants. That is to have forum members acting like children having a food fight in the cafeteria. Best. Gordon
