Stereophile - article by Steve Guttenberg, on High End

Great article. Usually is from him. I like Mr Guttenberg's no fear approach. He turned me on to seek out some new music in the form of Porcupine Tree in explaining surround sound CDs one day on Home Theater Geeks podcast. Intensely great stuff.

Telling it like it is usually gets someone puffed up & hurt. From someone that has Magnepan 20.7's & heard the Zu's last week with good components, he said it very well imo.

I'm not always a fan of Stereophile's front page "As We See It" but Guttenberg's was a good one.

"-many highly respected $50,000+ speakers can't go all the way with the Ramones or Iggy and the Stooges."

I see you've now joined the throng of fans around this great band (which has now disbanded). I don't know how exposed you might be to the current "prog rock" scene, but if you like PT I can easily recommend several relatively new bands that you might also enjoy.

BTW, there are tons of prog fans and discussion over at www.progressiveears.org where you will likely discover much great new music.

Here's a few you might want to check out ...

Steve Wilson - The Raven That Refused to Sing, Grace For Drowning (new solo albums from PT's guiding light)
Haken - Aquarios, Visions, Mountain (all are great)
Big Big Train - The Underfall Yard
Anathema - Weather Systems, Hindsight
Katatonia - Dethroned & Uncrowned, Dead End Kings
The Pineapple Thief - All The Wars
OSI - Blood, Free, Fire Make Thunder
RPWL - Beyond Man and Time

Enjoy,
Bob
