I know we all root, like crazy for our teams. I am a NY Yankee fan (although not raised in NY) and really do not follow the other sports. However, when a NY team, such as the rangers makes it to the finals, it the lead story on every local newscast.
The Rangers are owned by the Dolans, who own the Knicks, Madison Square garden, Cablevision and the local newspaper, Newsday. I am not a fan of theirs as they control the news out here. That aside…
I consider my team has had a good year when they make it to the playoffs. I cannot live a year retroactively, that is, wait until October and the World Series to decide whether or not I enjoyed the last few months. I like enjoying the season.
Met fans in New York really dislike the Yankees and their fans. It is Met fans who constantly say to us: “It’s not a good year unless the Yankees win the World Series!” Well, they don’t apply that to themselves, and if they did, they have not had a good year for a quarter of a century! I never understood this animosity. J
It’s a really good year if your team makes it to the finals and a great year if they win.
But this has to stay FUN. People have made it more than that. Look at the riots at the world cup.
