Too much or too little?
That's definitely not the case in Chicagoland! In the not too distant past the Blackhawks were playing their home games in a virtually empty stadium and were like a forgotten stepchild here. However since Rocky Wirtz took over the team operations after the passing of his father they have had an unbelievable resurgence in this market. They are now the second most popular sports team in Chicago next to 'Da Bears'. Of course we don't have many other winning or even competitive teams to cheer for, but there are an unbelievable number of people on the street these days proudly displaying their Hawks paraphernalia. This is considered by many sports experts to likely be the fastest and most significant turnaround of any major league team in history. GO HAWKS!!!First this is not a shot at hockey at all. But why has hockey diminished in popularity over the last few years. Their attendance is down 20 percent over where was at 10 years ago. Now this long recession has affected all the major leagues but it's really heard hockey which hasn't begun to recover.

And the Chicago Blackhawks are the fourth most valuable team (over $350 million) of the entire National Hockey League, just after the Montreal Canadians (over $575 million). ...The Toronto Maple Leafs are at the number one spot (over $1 billion, and among the top 50 most profitable sport franchises in the world, according to Forbes magazine). ...The Boston Bruins are the fifth one ($349 million). ...At number two spot are the New York Rangers ($750-850 million).
I've heard that before but it never fails to make make laugh!
Anybody else rooting for a Hawks/Rangers final?

The habs don't have a hope in hell. They have gone as far they are going to get. This is likely going to be ugly for the habs.
So with all that wealth, why do the NHL teams keep pleading poverty and stiffing the players?
i dont like to gloat because it always turns sour in the end (except 94)being a ranger fan for 40 years, but the rangers looked on top of their game today. more so than i remember seeing in recent years. they never score goals, and today that all they did. i just got home from work and watched my recording of the game.Go Habs Go! ...Hmmm ...
