who uses them over a tower speaker and why did you choose the monitor over a floor stander, thanks
an of course what monitor do you use and stands, thanks

A little 2 way monitor can have a special quality that you just can’t get from a bigger system. Of course you don’t have the bass slam and the huge soundstage but sometimes a simplicity gets you into the music.

As far as what I use for my “monitor” system right now - a pair of Falcon LS3/5a 2024 edition. Their Gold badge is quite good too. On Solidsteel stands.

I prefer monitors. I should more accurately say I prefer stand mount speakers. I have always felt that floor standing speakers are rather overwhelming in a room. I have also had smaller sized music rooms in which floor standing speakers do not work as well.

For most of my life I prefer two-way speakers. Every time I have had three-way the speakers seemed like something was lost in the crossovers.

A better built and designed stand mount speaker is easier to fit into a room and can be designed to perform better and at a more affordable range. I have always liked a quality two-way stand mount over a lower quality three-way.

For years I have preferred British speakers. I like the accuracy emphasis and musicality of their speaker designs. I also appreciate the quality of speakers that are hand made in England. My new favorite speaker company makes only stand mounted speakers in England.

I guess I’m old, and formed my musical preferences based on Klipschorn speakers. But I, like Mike, prefer tower speakers with some bass. When I listen to 2 way speakers there’s just not the visceral “feel” of the music that I prefer. I’m definitely not a “bass head” or “metal head”, although I do like some Deadmau5, and Cinnamon Chaser, and those sound much batter with bass. I’m actually a Parrot Head for the most part 😎

I have 2 pair of 2-way speakers that are older but still sounding great. My Dynaudio 42s are my Office speakers. I also still have 82s and a 122c.
The other pair are JM Labs Tantal 509s (before they were called just Focal). They are a little bright with their titanium tweeter. They sit in large enclosures of built in corner cabinets next to the fireplace which somehow gives them lots of bass. When you stand in the right spot, there is no better imaging.

One of the best speakers I have ever owned was a two way floor stander, with no crossover. Wish I never got rid of them…Taksim Reference 3A’s.
Just a generic photo, I do have photos of them at home somewhere.
Plenty of deep bass, but imaged like a moniter, and easy to drive…what was I thinking moving them on?
